Review on πŸ”§ MAGBIT 782 24 0716QC: Ultimate Extension for 16 Inch to 24 Inch Lengths by Nick Narvasa

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great - just make sure it's what you need and you won't be disappointed. A real Excellnet tool.

First, note that this is a 7/16" hex shank, not the 1/4" hex shank you would typically find at large stores or hardware stores. This particular extension is of very limited use, and if you're just looking for a standard "Hex-Bits" extension, this isn't for you. If you already know exactly what it is, read on to get an overview. I usually use Irwin for hex extensions because the locking mechanism works - MAGBIT is the only other brand I've found that is as good as Irwin. . With many other brands, unlocking is done by pulling the collar forward, which can cause the snaffle to fall out (into the wall!) when you pull it back. I've also used models where the collar is retractable but not as secure so you can lose the bit on the way inside. Magbit and Irwin have a very strong and secure collar, and it seems impossible (or almost impossible). reached) to accidentally release the racket. In terms of durability, this is the only extension I've ever used that can outlive Irwin. Not at all sure it will, but it's very solid and well built. If you need a 7/16" hex shank with a really long reach (24"!), this is the only option to consider unless you want to connect two 12" Irwin shanks. I also love that the Magbit models come with a great "storage case" which I will continue to use until it finally wears out. I don't know if it was meant for long term storage as it would look like if it was made to hang in retail packaging but it's good quality nonetheless and I will continue to use it. Buy with confidence when you are sure of the shaft size and length. A final note on shank sizes, hex extensions come in three different shank sizes, so make sure you're getting the right extension for your application. Choosing the right extension can be particularly tricky due to Revain part numbers getting mixed up. Sometimes the name Revain says one thing, but the detailed description says something else. It's hard to tell if you're looking for a 1/4" drive (the most common size) or the next size up to 3/8" found on larger auger and hole saw boats, or the largest 7/16" drive. which is rare but saves for when you need it.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
