My Greek Turtle loves these bedding. Well, I can't say for sure since he doesn't speak. But if he did, he would tell everyone how he buries himself in this bed all day and sleeps for hours like the lazy idiot that he is. This is the perfect dry substrate for the tortoise. Wood chips are made up of nice, smooth little pieces that don't branch or split. Leftover food and odd little turtle piles are easy to spot, leaving his paddock fresh and clean. I also used this bedding for a house mantis. When small, they are about the size of the main product and are easily lost in other types of wood litter. You can't hide in this stuff so easily. Once it got big enough to eat crickets, scraping cricket debris off of this litter was easy, again because the pieces of wood are so smooth and even. This mat is not very dusty. It is an excellent bedding for rats, hamsters and mice, which are more susceptible to respiratory infections from particularly dusty, woody substrates such as pine. It also absorbs moisture well and doesn't have a strong wood smell, so your home won't smell like a hamster cage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (unless you like it) Also, it looks very pretty for wood chips. Until someone or something convinces me otherwise, I will always prefer this bedding for my small animals.
