I'm not sure why other reviewers don't mention this, but the main reason for this part is the ability to remove the bed extension without opening the trunk lid. If you don't have a ton, there's no point in buying this. The standard brackets that come with the bed extender are fine. I installed them like this on my 16 and they matched the stock extension holes perfectly. They work great with the Truxedo Lopro cover and I no longer have to open them to remove (or move) the bed extension.
