Part of the hose was twisted and difficult to unwind. The hose is stiff and not very flexible, and it got worse when I took it outside in 50-degree weather to dump a 55-gallon barrel of rainwater. I tried making it flat by hanging it up in a warm house but that didn't make it any easier as it was still quite rolled up. The good news was that I started and when I came back the trunk was almost empty. which saved me a lot of time and effort pumping out bucket after bucket with a cistern pump. I'll see if I can shorten the hose down to a few feet and then add a connector to the real hose that's more flexible towards the end of the run and doesn't curl up.
