. I bought this in December and have been using it for a few months with no problems; It quickly acquired the satellites and remained reliable throughout the 12-hour flight. Then he suddenly became unreliable. No matter where in the cockpit I placed it (or even from my hotel room), it failed to pick up satellites. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Every time I turn it on I never know what to expect. The other day it didn't work for more than 2 hours, then suddenly it worked for no particular reason for most of my flight across the Atlantic, then for the last few hours of the flight it just didn't lock on to any satellite, even though it had them in mind. There have been instances where it would just auto shut off after a few minutes even if the battery was showing 3 out of 4 bars. None of my colleagues have such problems with their evil elf. I have contacted Bad Elf for the past few weeks and initially they have been very responsive and have offered various fixes, updates and restarts which I have followed but the issue has never been resolved. Now Bad Elf Support will not return my emails, will not provide replacements or repairs, and have completely disclaimed any liability for their product. I have also contacted the seller and they are not offering a refund as this has gone through a 30 day return policy. I spent over $200 on a defective product that only works intermittently. I do not recommend this product and am very disappointed with Bad Elf's customer service.
