NOTE. Summary in the last paragraph for time savers. I've spent a few days using this monitor as the main driver for my other Samsung 1080@60 displays. In general the experience is what you expect. This display renders 1440p with pure pixel density thanks to its 24-inch display size. If you want to get really close to those retina displays, you'll find them on Apple's MacBooks. Look more for 4K displays of this size, they'll likely be TN panels, but they're pretty darn close to the same pixel density. In terms of frame rate, this display can easily support 144Hz as long as you use DisplayPort as HDMI has its limitations (HDMI only runs at 60Hz). The included DisplayPort cable can support full 1440p 144Hz resolution without any issues, which I think is a plus, saves a lot of people time and money looking for cables. This OSD menu of this display has settings to overclock the refresh rate to a maximum of 165 Hz. After enabling this setting through a reboot, Windows will allow you to set the display to 165 Hz. Experience at 165 is exactly what you would expect. It's fast, it's smooth, and no artifacts are visible. Most people I've heard always run the display at 165Hz, as the display seems to handle that like a breeze. This display also features an integrated audio jack for connecting headphones and listening to audio pass-through via HDMI or DisplayPort. , but I had no reason to fully test its functionality, but about DisplayPort, Windows reports that the connector only supports 16-bit 48 kHz, no more, no less. This display also has a USB 3.0 cable designed to use the 2 included USB 3.0 ports on the bottom of the display next to the HDMI port. I don't think this port serves any purpose other than 3.0 passthrough. Finally the only reason I can't hold this monitor. The color reproduction of this display is exactly what you would expect from a TN panel. While you can and should change some settings in the OSD and add a color profile. You can only make this ad as good as it is by changing the settings. This display can give you the frame rate and resolution you are looking for in competitive games like CO:GO or Overwatch or whatever you want with a high refresh rate. But when it comes to content consumption and content creation in particular, I wouldn't use this display. While this display performs reasonably well with vivid colors and is surprisingly bright, this display suffers from excessive color banding in the dark area. I've attached a photo to really show the limitations of this display, showing contrasting blacks and comparing the same image to my 1080 PLS panel. If, like me, you enjoy watching movies and creating all kinds of digital designs with dark colors, I wouldn't use this display. This makes black gradients a guessing game and hardly presentable. When viewing low-light scenes in movies, the effect of color banding REALLY shows up, making it difficult to fully enjoy the viewing experience. But if you're ready to take the plunge in black and just need that refresh rate and resolution for gaming, this display should guide you to any technology that comes after 8K.
