Review on πŸ’‘ Ultimate Versatility: Explore the Adjustable Eventek KPS3010D Switching Regulated Power Supply by Jeff Payne

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really great simple device, with overly sensitive coarse adjustment

In general the device is excellent. I really liked having a 10 amp output as I do a lot of low voltage, high amperage projects like flashlights, motors, etc. The device comes with two pairs of clips, both ends of which are alligator clips, which I find useless, so I connected the JST connector to one of my two, which works much better than alligator clips. The display is nice and bright, easy to read and the controls and display are clear. However, there is one major annoyance with voltage regulation. The "rough" adjustment is very sensitive, as if the slightest movement increases a volt. It's very bad when I try to test between 3-5V, but 5.5V destroys the device. On the other hand, the fine adjustment only has a swing of about 0.2V, which isn't enough to actually test how the circuits react when the battery is drained from 4.2V to 3V when Coarse is less sensitive and/or Fine I would be completely satisfied with this device and would give it 5 stars. Spend 100 then be ready to set the voltage BEFORE hooking up the electronics or you could fry them. Otherwise, if you can get by with 5 amps or less, you might want to consider another device that has infinitely rotating dials or digital increments to make the setting much more precise. If you only use your device for a set voltage and don't change it at all, this device is the best. PS if anyone knows if it is possible to replace the coarse/fine voltage potentiometer with one with less or more resistance to make it less/more sensitive to avoid this problem please reply!
