Most 4WD vehicles have locking hubs on the front wheels. When the 4WD is not engaged, the locking hubs disconnect the axle. They spin freely, and the rear wheels of the car do all the work of moving the vehicle. When 4WD is engaged, the locking hubs lock in the front wheels to the front axle allowing them to get torque from the engine. Mud, rust or worn parts inside the hub can prevent the mechanism from sliding in and locking the hub. Anything that binds the internal mechanism can prevent it from sliding and releasing. The most noticeable symptoms may be an increase in fuel consumption, noise on the highway and/or increased front-tire wear. When locking hub can not work properly, you need to replace a new one. This 4WD locking hub fits both right and left front axles for your Ford F250 1999-2004, F350 1999-2004, Ford F450 1999-2004, Ford F550 Super Duty 1999-2004, Ford Excursion 2000-2005, Ford Expedition 2001-2002 and Lincoln Navigator 2001-2002 cars. Customers can find the product you need accurately according to the OE number. OE part number: 1C3Z-3B396-CB, 1C3Z3B396CB, 600-203, 600203. Fits either LH (Driver Side) & RH (Passenger Side) FRONT. Fits 4WD (Four Wheel Drive) Models with Auto Locking Hubs only. If your vehicle is equipped with locking hubs and the have suffered failure, youโ€™ll notice that selecting your 4 wheel drive wonโ€™t send drive power to every wheel.

Worked great on bearings and seals

Product worked great, had a little trouble getting the old one out. Turns out I had to jack up and unload the truck, and then it broke loose.

Pros
  • Hub assembly
Cons
  • Expensive

Worked great: spares

The replacement hubs work great and have eliminated that annoying rumble that must be coming from the stock front hubs. Installation took about 5 minutes using only needle nose pliers to squeeze the old lock rings together, wiggle the lock hub until it came out and replace them with new hubs. you don't have to take the wheels off.

Pros
  • spares
Cons
  • unreliable

Just installed and they lock when you do them in hand but when you attach the truck, they don't I don't know why but I had mileage marker locks and one broke so I cut the plate off and put it on to take the broken one off. Just figured I'd take them and try to fix it properly so I pulled out 85 out of 150. I was able to both buy new scrap and block the mileage marker so I'll go back to blocking the plates until something breaks

Pros
  • wheel
Cons

They don't work, don't waste your time. Ford OE is not that expensive.

They don't work properly, the end of the axle shaft sticks out 1.75 inches, they only have 1.5 inches of internal depth. If you're about to lock it, the knob will turn, but in reality the hub will just ratchet/slip and not deliver any power. This is due to a lack of internal depth or the hub rubbing on the end of the short shaft and exposing the part that is supposed to lock/engage the end of the wheel. If you buy them you will be disappointed. I've tried 5 so far and am trying to return theโ€ฆ

Shit! Even real shit would work better.

Don't waste your time and money on this crap. I used to buy poor quality products but nothing disappointed me so much when checking out. If I lock my hubs in 4WD it's because I need to. You want a product you can rely on, and THAT isn't the case. Depending on the quality of this product, you are putting yourself in danger. That crap, in fact, crap can work even better than these hubs. I think I could outsource this to a teenager who enjoys designing things on a 3D printer and get a higherโ€ฆ
