Locking hubs, also known as freewheeling hubs, let the front wheels of your four-wheel drive vehicle rotate freely when disconnected from the front axle. This reduces mechanical resistance and improves fuel efficiency. Locking hubs also result in less wear and tear on the front axle. If you have a broken hub, your four-wheel drive will not be able to engage properly. When your hubs lock in, your front tires will turn on their own without the aid of your back tires. If you have a broken hub or hubs, one or both of your front wheels will not pull, even after you have engaged the four-wheel drive. This is a Manual Locking Hub. Please carefully compare the pictures or OE numbers to match your original parts before purchasing the product.

Horrible Manual Locking Hubs for 4x4 Enthusiasts

Don't waste your money on these subpar manual locking hubs. Automotive enthusiasts deserve better than this poorly crafted set of hubs. Through trial and error, I found that these hubs were difficult to install and did not function properly on my 4x4. While they do have a long-lasting lifespan, it's not worth the headache of dealing with faulty performance.

    Pros
    • Long lifespan
    Cons
    • Difficult to install and faulty performance.

Much better than the $289 NAPA.

Make sure to press very hard to install the retaining ring. Luckily one fell out, found it in a snowdrift and took great care to reinstall it.

    Pros
    • Excellent overall performance
    Cons
    • Doubtful

Not quite right the best in camps

Didn't fit my 2000 Ford F-250. They were identical in every respect except they were not fully seated allowing the locking spring to seat in the groove. The only thing I can think of is that the inside was too short and hit the spindle too soon. Then, the more I fiddled with it, the dial began to loosen. I returned them and opted for MileMarkers for another $30.

    Pros
    • The best in its niche
    Cons
