Great for espresso in my review

Better choice for a small, single espresso machine when compared to an electric grinder for the same price - that's if you can find a decent quality electric espresso grinder for the same price.

Pros
  • Coffee, Tea & Espresso
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who prefer a different color other than silver

Great grinder for my opinion

I gave this as a gift, because I liked the product so much. I retired an older electric grinder that still had too much retention after doing every mod I could find. This is my daily driver for espresso. It works great for pour over and French press.

Pros
  • Conical burr allows for a more consistent grind
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who prefer a manual grinder with a larger capacity

Missing Setting Indicator

Came with no instructions and missing a grind setting indicator. Currently reaching out to manufacturer, but disappointed that product did not come in as advertised

Pros
  • Non-slip base ensures stable grinding operation
Cons
  • The J-Max S may require more maintenance than other manual grinders due to its foldable handle

Not the color that i order and its cheap color and i payed for the grayand its more expensive Very bad and used in bad . its used used in bad condition the coffe grinder still inside the grinder the equipment inside is used !

Pros
  • Got this for my son and he loves it! Fast and easy to use!! Very well made
Cons
  • The numerical settings on the J-Max S can be confusing for those who are not familiar with coffee grinding

Great for Espresso and Turkish!

This grinder is extremely veratile, it can grind fine enough for delicious Turkish Coffee and is an amazing Espresso Grinder to boot! Of course it can tackle manual coffee as well (Pour Over, French Press, etc.) Extremely uniform grinds that have suited my needs in manual espresso (Flair, Cafelat Robot). Easy to clean and grinding is a joy even with dense beans! If you are looking for more EVEN more settings for dialing in Espresso the J-Max is your best bet Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Faster grinding efficiency for a quicker cup of coffee
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who prefer a coffee grinder with a removable hopper

Very solid build: my feedback

Definitely a high quality grinder. Build is simple and sturdy, feels very substantial when holding it. The only downside is it was not calibrated correctly when I received it. It wasn't to hard to calibrate it properly but it did take me a few tried to get it perfect so soemthing to keep in mind. Once that was done though it works great. There is a huge range of settings that allow you to tweak the grind perfectly. Overall it was a pretty solid purchase for as much I drink coffee and good deal…

Pros
  • Coated burr adds durability and longevity
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who require a finer grind than what is allowed by its numerical settings

Fantastic grinder good for me

Mine didn't come with a brush so that's a bit annoying. The JMax definitely isn't a do it all grinder. It does grind course enough for drip and v60 but that's it. KMax is what you would want for that. It does do pour over incredibly well and obviously this is the defacto for espresso hand grinders.Easy to adjust, not as difficult to remember what setting you are on as some reviews say. Manual shows you how to read the little pyramid indicator on the side.

Pros
  • Efficient grinding process reduces the time it takes to make coffee
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who require a coffee grinder with a more consistent burr speed

This is a do it all coffee grinder!

This product I use daily for everything from espresso to pour over to French press. Dial it in and you won’t regret this purchase. Have your coffee the way that you like it when you like it. This machine has no rival at the under 200 dollar mark. Again this is a game changer don’t hesitate to buy

Pros
  • Coffee Grinders
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who are hard of hearing, as its grinding noise may be too loud

Awesome manual hand grinder for espresso

Pros:Super precise adjustmentHigh build qualityFast GrindingMagnetic cup works way better than expectedCons:Heavy - comes with case but too bulky to travel withBigger burrs actually causes larger chunks to fall into burrs creating a more difficult grind sometimes.Gripping the body could be better.using the included rubber band is a mustOverall I am very happy with this purchase. even though this could be used for brew coffee, I would not because you could get away with a much cheaper, lighter…

Pros
  • Precision-made burr for a superior grind
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who require a coffee grinder that is more portable

Fantastic high-quality grinder.

I was hesitant to spend so much on a grinder, but I think it is totally worth the price. It seems well build and hopefully will last for years. I love the ease for selecting grind settings; I use it several times a day, and every other day I switch the type of grind I need. Having the settings indicator outside makes it so easy to do so, and always accurate. It is also a fast grinder. It used to take me about 1 minute to grind 1 cup for Aeropress using a Hario grinder, but with this one it takes

Pros
  • Durable construction allows for heavy use without wear and tear
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who require a coffee grinder with a more ergonomic design

Awesome for espresso where micro changes open up flavors.

Well built and designed for espresso and those tiny incremental adjustments as you sneak up on the prefect grind setting for that lovely bean.

Pros
  • Reduces waste by allowing for precise measurements
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who frequently grind oily coffee beans, as they may clog the grinder

Excellent espresso coffee grinder

I wanted a good quality grinder to take on road trips with a Flair Pro 2 espresso maker. This worked perfectly with a consistent grind which was at least as good as my electric Virtuoso (Baratza) grinder. Solid metal construction. Easy to disassemble & clean. Finer grinds take a bit more effort as one would expect.

Pros
  • High-quality build materials ensure long-term use
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who require a coffee grinder with a built-in timer

Amazing coffee grinder - know you have to work for it

I love my new hand grinder. It replaces my Gaggia MDF that I've had for 15 years. The ability to fine tune the grind is impressive and the magnetic catch works like a charm--clever engineering.Be advised: It does take decent grip strength with some beans and you do have to put some muscle behind it. It was too much for my wife and she's back to electric. For me, it's perfect. I use the small Maxus scale and only grind what I need each time. And, of course, taste: night and day between this and my

Pros
  • Large capacity of 40g allows for grinding multiple cups of coffee at once
Cons
  • The J-Max S may be difficult to clean due to its conical burr design and foldable handle

2 stars on Arrival, 5 star product with adjustment

Like others have said, this thing could have been a 5 star product but the QA on the units sold here is screwing the initial experience. When I received the Jmax, it was completely locked up. Even after moving the adjustment dial to the highest (most coarse) setting, the grinder was still completely locked and would not budge. I ended up having to completely disassemble the grinder and re-calibrate the burrs.I'll give credit where it's due: this thing is very easy to take apart. Setting the…

Pros
  • Saves money by allowing for at-home coffee grinding
Cons
  • The coated conical burr may affect the taste of the coffee

Great manual grinder

Just holding it you know it’s great quality. It doesn’t come calibrated, though- you have to do that yourself. Which is fine I guess, but then you can’t replicate others’ grind settings.

Pros
  • Portable design makes it great for travel or camping trips
Cons
  • The J-Max S may not be suitable for those who prefer a manual coffee grinder without numerical settings
