Poor quality wood best in my review

I’ve used basswood before and it’s my favorite. This stuff however was horrible. There were multiple splits and knots as well as the wood coming off in chunks rather than slices. One pull and a section would splinter off. Same with the cherry and walnut. Buy better quality basswood blocks and make your own spoon blanks.

Pros
  • Very nice, the quality is good.
Cons
  • Wood is difficult to carve without splitting, this is with sharp new tools.

Great for beginner in my review

This spoon blank is great for a beginner whitteler/ carver. The wood is soft and easy to carve. I was able toHold the blank with out difficulty. Having the blank shaped as the spoon gave me the general idea of how I needed to carve the bowl . Plus the price was really good for the package of 2 blanks

Pros
  • Nice wood blocks. For the price I would buy again.
Cons
  • Not suitable for those with a nut allergy

Create Unique Wooden Spoons in a Day

Bought these carving blanks for my husband. The photos show his first attempts at spoon carving. I am delighted with th results! He actually watched several YouTube videos and has carved three spoons. He likes the basswood as it is quite easy to carve and softer than other woods. He is very happy with the outcome as well.

Pros
  • beautiful straight grain blanks
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with limited vision

Spoons are "small " but good.

I liked the variety of wood. I bought because my sister ask me to make herr a spoon and since I had never made one thought a blank would be helpful.

Pros
  • not much to review. wood spoon blanks and i'm having a blast playing with them
Cons
  • May be more expensive than pre-carved wooden spoons

Cherry is a very nice looking hard wood.

Very nice. They're very thick. I cut one in half lengthwise to make two regular shallow stirring spoons. I've started the other to make a deeper bowled, decorative spoon.

Pros
  • Perfect size of a cooking spoon. Extra thick and very easy to carve.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for food use if not properly finished

Measure twice cut once !

Nice soft wood for carving. These are thick enough for correcting many errors. I actually cut each in half to make four spoons.

Pros
  • This product lived up to me every expectation!
Cons
  • May require additional materials for proper finishing

Deep Dent in one spoon.

One spoon has a deep place on it that must be whittled out. Looks lime it’s been hit with a tool. This was a gift and I was embarrassed. Disappointed.

Pros
  • Very nice pieces of wood. Nice clean grain! Should pe perfect for carving.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those with limited hand mobility
