They are great for what they are designed for. I used them for porcelain tiles. I started it in a drill press to start a groove (there's no center drill bit to hold on to). Then I put everything in the sink and the water dripped onto the drill as I slowly drilled the rest of the way. I'm not giving them 5 stars because of the missing center piece. I understand they are designed for a drill press, but most don't have water cooling.

Pros
  • Diamond coated drill removes a full circle of glass, tile, marble, granite, ceramic etc.
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Perfect holes through marble tile and cement board with little.

Worked as described, perfect holes in marble tile and cement board with little effort. The hardest part was guiding it [at an angle at first], but once it bites in and you straighten the bit, it only takes a minute. Provided you have adequate cooling and are letting the drill work at its own pace, don't apply much pressure or speed. I made a small "wall" of plumbing putty around the area I was cutting, filled it with water, and added more water as I drilled to keep it clean and cool.

Pros
  • Note: Use water to lubricate or the diamond bit will burn through
Cons
  • I can't remember but there was something

Cutting a hole in a glass block to make a jar

My wife wanted to make some crafts out of these glass blocks/bricks that are often used in bathrooms. She wanted to turn one of them into a coin bank, so I wanted to cut a hole just over 1 inch in diameter so the coins could easily fit in. We checked the local hardware store and didn't see anything the size I needed. I ordered this set and used 1 1/8" to cut the hole. The glass was quite thick, but I probably finished the cut within a minute. The glass isn't cracked/broken/damaged. ok, so I…

Pros
  • Great for making clean and precise holes
Cons
  • Small things
