This is a good 3/8 and 1/4 ratchet set for the money

This is a good 3/8 and 1/4 ratchet set for the money. The locking mechanism locks well in different positions and seems to be able to take a decent amount of torque without unlocking or damaging but I would not trust it to max torque rated levels. I would probably trust the 1/4 to 30 - 40 ft pounds and the 3/8 to up to 200 ft pounds ( about 80% of a good brand solid shaft ratchet). When these ratchets are unlocked, they are basically a "floppy" flex head. I also have a 120 xp ratchet the…

Pros
  • Compatible with a wide range of sockets
Cons
  • The ratchet handle can be too short for comfortable use

Beware! Does not come with storage tray.

The ratchets are nice and good quality. My main complaint is that they don't come with the storage tray and gearwrench will not send or sell you one.

Pros
  • Compact and easy to store in toolboxes, drawers, and tool bags
Cons
  • The ratchet teeth can skip

Tight Spaces on my review.

If your working in a tight space for example an engine bay and dont have much room to turn the rachet, you’ll be there all day. Invest in the 120xp. Much more motion with little room.

Pros
  • The tight areas these work in as far as the ratchet action is really nice, feels good and works great
Cons
  • The set doesn't come with instructions

Great products! good for me

These ratchets are bar none the best I have used thus far. They are strong and versatile because the flex lock in place. They are great for tight spaces. I recommend this product and seller.

Pros
  • It makes the job a lot easy
Cons
  • The flex head is too bulky for tight spaces

NICE! Hesitating because of the brand? Don't!

I own a lot of tools. And I mean a LOT of tools. I've owned everything from Snap-On to flea market junk and have to admit that I hesitated before clicking "Buy It Now" because I wasn't sure about the GearWrench name. I was very pleasantly surprised when these arrived. VERY nice fit and finish. Very solid feeling and sounding ratcheting action.I've purchased several other GearWrench tools since I bought these and won't ever hesitate again.

Pros
  • Versatile toolset suitable for automotive repairs, DIY projects, and more
Cons
  • The set is not rust-resistant

Professional quality. Well almost.

I bought this set to fill a need for extending reach to places I can't fit a fist. The 1/4" drive is strong, comfortable, and confident feeling in your hand. The 3/8" drive long handle ratchet I want to give to the scrap metal guy. It's not the most slim head. The direction lever is the same size as the 1/4" drive. If you try to use the ratchet quickly, it will change direction on its own. I don't need a tool that slows me down. The 1/2" drive ratchet is stout and nearly as long as the EZ-Red…

Pros
  • They're sturdy and work as intended? You get what you pay for, and so far so good.
Cons
  • The flex head is not durable

Great wrenches for tight spots

What a great set of ratchets. Ever had some of those well engineered places to access a bolt or nut, but no easy way😡. This makes them hard to get too no straight access bolts and nuts easy to remove now. I replaced oil sending unit on 5.3, designed on back of block against fire wall da, a fast job.

Pros
  • You will find yourself reaching for these tools more and more!
Cons
  • The ratchet clicks are too loud

Great tools good for me

I have used these tools for the past 2 years and have had a great experience with them, I already bought another set for my personal use

Pros
  • So far so good! only a few weeks in and there doing great.
Cons
  • The teeth wear out quickly

Good for the price but don't expect Snap On quality.

Comparing the features from my Snap On to this Gearwrench they have almost the same weight in hand. One feature I like more on Gearwrench than my Snap On is that the flex head locks in place. You can't beat it for the price but don't expect Snap On quality. Better than Craftsman or Harbor Freight though.

Pros
  • Awesome , 84 tooth makes a big difference.
Cons
  • The flex head doesn't stay in position

Great Value in my review

I’m a diesel mechanic these ratchets r awesome high quality and r just as good or better than snap on, Matco, Mac etc That's my feedback!

Pros
  • Allows for greater flexibility in tool selection
Cons
  • The set can be prone to corrosion

Quality control is bad and customer service not good either.

Looks and feels great. Quality control not so good. I have the 84 tooth ratchets in flex and standard types and the 120 xp in standard type. All have had some kind of problem causing the ratchets to lock up. Missing detents, improperly drilled bores for the detents, Metal flash on pawl segments and missing lubrication. I Emailed Gearwrench about warranty parts but they did not get back to me - poor customer service. I did purchase rebuild kits for the 84 teeth ratchets and rebuilt them. The…

Pros
  • Saves time and effort compared to traditional wrenches
Cons
  • The locking mechanism can be difficult to access in tight spaces

Tough ! on my review.

Bought these a few months ago I have replaced 4 engines and 3 transmissions and have done a lot of work on my own vehicles I have absolutely punished these tools and the only problem I’ve had is I bent the 3/8 drive long rachet with a 2 ft cheater pipe and still works great no teeth problems would absolutely buy again hoping to buy the 120xps soon as well

Pros
  • Teardrop shaped head and flush-mounted on or off switch allow even more access in tight spaces
Cons
  • The ratchet can be difficult to turn in tight spaces

Cheap and quality: my feedback

This is what GW is known for. i got them for $100 new. they swing good and the flex head is just tight enough. use the 3/8s daily excited to see if they’ll hold up.1 year later they have held up. the long 3/8 one i use daily occasionally needs to be dipped into an oil drain then the gear spins just fine again.

Pros
  • Very satisfied... :)
Cons
  • The set can be difficult to use for beginners
