The second time around the bolts came loose and the plastic that held them tight fell off on the freeway. They moved and my yak almost fell out of the car. I had to stop but couldn't re-tighten them as the plastic hand screws fell off. This product is dangerous. I installed it correctly. Can't believe it fell off after being so tight and the plastic pieces just disappeared.

I bought this rack for my kayak. The equipment supplied was of high quality. I found the setup pretty clear and the photos were helpful. Finding the product to be very durable, I decided to load my boat and head out to sea; in 20 minutes. Driving, sometimes at higher speeds, I found no reason to stop and hesitate as I had to even with Thule products. I can only recommend this high-quality product!

Bought these to provide haulage for a 19ft sea kayak over 2500 miles. I already knew that at highway speeds the length of my kayak would cause it to move or even move my foam blocks and Thule rack set. I have used this rack 3 times, the 3rd time they scraped the nuts off the plastic 'wing nuts'. Because of this, my kayak fell off while driving because it wasn't fully tightened. When I tightened the plastic wing nuts, unbeknownst to me, they loosened and would not tighten, causing the kayak to come loose mid-ride! I want a refund, but Revain only guarantees the product for 30 days and I have 60 days if the product is only used 3 times. I do not recommend this as it is not safe!

The metal of the mounting brackets is very thin, the non-slip rubber is also very thin and delicate. They are hard enough to tighten to prevent slipping without damaging the rubber and deforming the very thin metal clips. I had to replace the rubber with butyl rubber for bike inner tubes to have enough downforce to keep the posts from slipping when the wind hits the kayak from the side. They are very poorly designed, you'd better spend more to get properly designed frames.

J-Racks do the job but are no frills and apparently no tech. The holes don't line up, but I was able to screw them on anyway. It comes with the EXACT number of nuts, bolts and washers. Do not give up! The knurled screws attached to the traverses must be constantly tightened! I know I'll lose one on the freeway. Why not put a second nut or tighten the most important nuts? They skimped on the rubber, which made it less reliable and prone to wobbling, which likely caused the nuts to come loose…
