Most importantly, the online documentation says not to connect hard drives until the card's BIOS is set, otherwise THE HARD DRIVE CAN BE REMOVED! This is NOT stated in the documents that came with the card. (2) The attached documents state that the BIOS utility is accessed by pressing CTRL-M during POST. THAT DOES NOT WORK! (3) The card does not recognize discs. A card from another manufacturer works fine in the same slot, so the problem is not with the computer. (4) Technical support is onlyโ€ฆ

Good service. Probably not backward compatible with PCI-e 1.0 systems.

CHANGE/UPDATE: Due to Ableconn's excellent customer service, I'm giving this a higher star rating. They went out of their way to fix this card with me. Unfortunately, it still didn't work with my old system, so I can't give an objective assessment of the device's performance. In short, if your PC has PCI-E. 2.0 x2 lane or higher, it may be new enough to boot from this card. Backward compatibility is on a click-to-play basis. Given the performance of the ROM options, this seems like a stableโ€ฆ

VMWare ESXi and the Marvell 88SE9230 chipset: a technical dive.

A little background on my setup: I have a VMWare ESXi machine at home and I installed Plex in a virtual machine (Windows Server 2012) to stream content to different TVs and phones. I can make digital copies of movies and music and never have to worry about kids scratching discs or wearing out my PS4's blue-ray optics ever again. I also copy all my family photos and videos to this virtual machine, which allows me to stream that content as well, and I don't have to worry about losing myโ€ฆ

works exactly as advertised

The PXA-130SA saved me days of work migrating from CentOS 6 KVM to CentOS 7 KVM. Previously, Orico drive racks (non-RAID) were connected via USB 3.0 Super Speed and streamed to a virtualized NAS via a PCIe address. CentOS 7 KVM went over USB devices but not over JBOD (LVM + RAID) ports. Plain disks worked, but not JBOD storage pool disks. The SuperMicro X11SAE-F BIOS recognized the drives, listed the drive models, made the drives available for the Hot Swap/Persistent BIOS menu and for the Bootโ€ฆ

Great and inexpensive 5Gb/s RAID card!

The card was packaged very well, came in a nice box which included a driver disk and an insert with the right instructions and information about the features you need to know. Everything went smoothly with my Windows 10 setup with a RAID 1 configuration. The onboard header provides activity LEDs for each drive, which was very handy in my case. The circuit board is clearly screen printed and of decent quality in my opinion. I really don't like how they sell it as 6Gb/s implying that it runs that

Finally! These are reliable SATA 6G cards!

Please note that these cards require a PCIe 2X slot or higher. For many computers, this means using an additional PCIe graphics card slot. I tested a few of these Ableconn cards on two desktops for over a week. These cards attach to removable SATA hard drive cages. Using these cards, I cloned over 12 terabytes of data from each computer's internal hard drives to back up the hard drives. I didn't have a single problem, although some clones took over 12 hours. In other words, I ran these cardsโ€ฆ
