I've used this to power a 1080p 144Hz display via DisplayPort via a Thunderbolt USB-C port with no issues. The monitor was recognized by the PC and all expected functions were available. I'm sure a higher resolution or refresh rate would probably work as well, but I haven't tested those personally.

Warning! Doesn't work on Mac Book Pro 15 2017. Two hours of testing with different ports, HDMI cables, etc. and fiddling with display options, sleep/wake toggle, plug/unplug, etc. didn't do anything. Try a different product.

LOVE this cable. I use it on my 2016 13" MacBook Pro which has it all. And this cable has really made a difference in picture quality and color on the true 31" LG 4K monitor I use on my Mac. Background: New Lenovo 900 laptop with USB-C port. Requires a USB-C to DisplayPort connection for an external monitor. I ended up with 4 different USB-C to Displayport adapters (USB-C male on one end and Displayport female on the other).
