Keeps my Beetle running

This voltage regulator works great and is perfect for my '71 Super Beetle. I replaced this when my battery couldn't hold a charge.

Didn't work in starters and alternators

I installed this regulator in my car and it didn't work. I had zero voltage on the generator. I cleaned the dots in my car and it worked. spent my money

Output Voltage Replacement Parts

Newly installed regulator. The voltage at the battery is 15 volts when the headlights are switched off. Tension with headlights on 14.7. Both are a little high for what I've seen on other regulators. The output of most older VWs is around 14 on the battery. After the next trip in the car I will check the temperature of the alternator. Sometimes generators will overheat if the output is too high. Defective after 4 months. I probably didn't drive the car 50 miles before it shorted out.

Inexpensive assembly. I can't believe this is actually a part of AC Delco. Four months after the regulator was installed, the cover came off and the electrical system was shorted out. I doubt I've driven the VW 50 miles. I have attached an image. The black wire running from below used to be red. You can see where the cover almost burned out on the regulator on the right. Now I will change the cable and regulator.
