They are well made and very inexpensive. I've tried connecting an Apple TV to an old Apple 23 DVI monitor but I can't sync it and can't see anything on the monitor, but despite my best efforts I couldn't get it to work. It's okay, it was more of an art project that needed something. At least now I know it doesn't work for that.

For years I've used a couple of old GPUs to output to my three monitor setup with DVI cables. I ended up upgrading to a newer card and it didn't have as many DVI outputs. I went ahead and plugged them in between my existing DVI cables and the HDMI outputs on the cards and went racing. They appear solid, with no obvious weak points. I recently had to set up multiple computer workstations to allow different family members to work from home. These adapters (and other similar ones) allowed me to use existing/older monitors with more modern docking stands for these dual screen setups. My desktop computer has damaged this DVI connector. I bought a laptop but it doesn't have a DVI output. Before purchasing I asked if it was compatible with my laptop and using DVI-HDMI with my Wacom Cintiq DTZ 1200W. Everyone said yes. OK, I tried. I had some DVI monitors I wanted to use with Raspberry Pi 2+3 boards for student education and decided to get some cheap HDMI to DVI adapters to buy. Yes it works, but the adapters are wide enough to block 1/8" audio outputs from Raspberry Pi boards. TL; DR: Does not work with an HDMI cable. I ended up tossing them in a black box with random cables and adapters. Make sure you buy the right ones. Standard HDMI cables have two male ends (DUH!)
