Collars are generally uncomfortable but my fur baby finds them much more comfortable. She lets me put it on so she doesn't lick her injured paw. She can wear it for 4 hours straight, then I take it off for an hour to let her neck breathe.

My cat had throat surgery. You need a soft collar as it will touch his incision. It was the lightest thing to carry. The gorget stretches slightly to be worn. Didn't hurt him and didn't help him scratch himself and didn't hurt himself by walking past the walls. The collar is different from those horribly hard plastic collars with sharp edges that vets use. This worked well for our old man, he had to be in the cone for about two months to allow the fur to heal and grow back and the plastic cone was he really plays with his Ability to move around and access bowls of food and water. We ended up buying it and it worked great. He can take it off if he really tries, so we had to put it on once or twice, but he mostly didn't touch it as it didn't affect his vision or eating.

Some people have mentioned not to buy it if it's for a neutered male because your pet can still reach it. Well my 2 cats couldn't really reach the incision. It was perfect. HOWEVER I tried this on my small dog (10lbs) and he reached the base of his tail which I was trying to stop from biting. It's not very wide so keep that in mind for lower areas or longer/larger pets.
