I received this as a microphone stand for my high performance Dragon Voice medical record dictation microphone. With a slight modification of the head that holds the mic, it works absolutely perfectly. The articulation in placement provides excellent positioning and variability. Even with the changes I had to make, I'm giving it a 5/5 and not a 4/5 because I'm not really using it for what it's supposed to do, so why downvote?

I love this hanging rod. This is the first stand I've bought. So I can't compare it to other mic stands. So far removed from the benefit I put into it. That works great. I was surprised when I got it in the right position for me and it didn't bounce back. Again, this is my first stand, so I was expecting a payout. This stand was very easy to attach to my desk. I sometimes had to tighten the clamp on the table as I often used adjustable stands. I move around a lot and hold the mic behind me and this hand makes it easy for me. It keeps the mic in place and doesn't sag, fall, or wobble. The only problem you might have with this hand is that the exposed springs in the joints can make a noise when you hit something. If you have a headset cord that can overlap and hit that hand, you may make noise as you move.

I bought this mic stand for myself after giving away my old "NEEWER" (same link I bought it from) to a friend. I had no problems with the stand I bought. I didn't know they changed a few things. *Edit* After almost a year of use this is the best desktop scissor arm I've used for the price. This is my first desk mounted scissor arm with a hanging boom. I would say you get what you pay for; but not in a negative sense. I wish there were easier ways to tighten at each "joint" and a better attachment system to the desktop mount. Great quality for such a low price. I use it to hold my microphone for streaming. One thing that really let me down about this mount is the non-standard mic clip thread size, hence the 4 star rating. I didn't even look it up in the description as it seems relatively absurd that they simply chose to use their own custom size. This basically means you have to use the microphone clip that comes with the kit. If your mic is not a standard mic that will fit in this clamp like many types of condenser
