Aketek Infrared Extender Receiver Repeater Review

Purchased for my A/V Receiver which is on the bottom shelf of an entertainment counter partially blocked by a coffee table. That meant holding the remote up in the air and pointing it at the device to change the volume or other settings. Or if you turn everything off with the Harmony remote, the audio/video stays on. This "IR bug" is exactly what you would expect. It works and has fairly long cables. I bought a 60 inch tv to hang over the fireplace so opening the old tv cabinet to control the tivo and stereo was not acceptable for my wife. All devices except the Tivo are HDMI-CEC (why Tivo, why?) so I only needed one transmitter for the Tivo. It worked for me, but only sporadically with my Comcast cable box. At first I thought it just didn't work because it didn't move the cable box just a few inches from the front.
