2 sizes up: water boots and socks

Bought these to wear to The Narrows and they fit great. I usually wear a size 12 but after reading the reviews I bought a size 11 and they were still too big for me. My feet moved in it even with hiking boots. I sent them back and got a size 10 and they fit perfectly.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons

Great for trail running/hiking

I bought these shoes to try with trail running shoes in the snow and they work great. I've also tried waterproof socks and found that these thin 2mm neoprene socks are much warmer. Trail runners are comfortable and great for long runs and hikes, but my feet can get cold in deep powder. This really worked for me.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Nothing

Great warm sandals underwater

Good quality product. Got it for my kids. They say they are comfortable and warm on summer and fall rides along the river. They wear them under their sharp sandals when the water is cold and to prevent stones from getting inside. Tested in water temperatures in the mid 50's for a short time. Update: I bought a pair of low cut socks. They are very comfortable. I also have NeoSport neoprene socks. I think the Akona is slightly better in terms of comfort and fit. The kids have already lost theirs.

Pros
  • Great fit for me
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Ideal for cold feet or Sjögren's syndrome.

I bought these because the reviews said they were good for cold feet! I'm very glad I did! I have Sjogren's Syndrome and my legs are worse than my arms. That was redemption. I wear them with my hiking boots and my feet really sweat! When it gets really cold I add a pair of wool socks, but I no longer suffer from the cold when hiking and even wear them at home when it's cold instead of slippers, they do the job better. !

Size does not match Akona socks

I've been wearing size 10 Akona low socks for many years. They fit great. I wanted something higher to avoid the exposed skin on the ankles. I thought a larger version of the Akona sock would fit, but I was wrong. A size 10 in high socks was unkempt and messy in my fins, and that's without dipping them in water. The socks were cut very loosely, even if the size was right. I returned them and bought NeoSport socks size 9 and they fit perfectly. For reference, the shoe size is 10.5.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Protection

Should have just bought from your local dive shop

All reviews seem to suggest buying one size smaller than your actual shoe size. I'm a size 12 and ordered a high sock in a size 11 but the sock was still too loose! When I put my foot in the fins of a sock, the sock formed a large fold over the heel. I can also easily pinch too many socks and pull them off my foot at any time - not good. I have returned them and will be purchasing from my local dive shop to get the correct fit, which I advise anyone buying neoprene to do NOTHING. I learned it…

Great extra layer of winter cycling socks

I wear these as an extra layer of winter cycling socks (Pacific Northwest 40s) recommended by another Revine resident and they do a great job. I wear size 11 wide shoes and size 10 socks still fit in without feeling too tight or tight. The fit of these socks is a bit odd (something like a cone at the toes and V-shaped seams at the bottom) but doesn't get in the way when you put them on. Another user recommended a low cut, but I would recommend "high" for cycling: the bare ankle is not exposed…

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive

When cycling in cold weather, they keep your toes warm!

I use them for bike commutes in the colder months. Being a recreational diver since 1982 (I haven't dived in the last 15 years as I live inland) I don't know why I never considered them for my commute. My old snorkel boots were too worn to be useful and cheap enough to try. If not they are great for diving if I ever decide to take a refresher course or can afford a trip to the Caribbean. However they are big enough for my 13 wide feet and thin enough to fit most of the time. my hiking shoes…
