amazing product! Suitable for safety

I am a welder who works in harsh environments with multiple welding processes (SMAW, MIG, TIG, Plasma etc.) on a daily basis. The dimming range is absolutely ideal for any type of process. It even has a grinding mode which is very useful. This helmet is fantastic, especially for the price! The sensitivity is adjustable and extremely sensitive, so that even if you are not looking directly at the welding process, the screen is automatically dimmed (depending on the setting). It's durable…

Excellent hood in safety and protection

I started welding school and was told the first thing. Don't buy a range hood on Amazon. It will break and you won't be able to go to the local store and buy a replacement part. so i did it anyway. I'm glad I did. This hood has worked amazingly for me. It darkens instantly, is very clear and easily visible from the window. The controls are wonderful. The only problem I can fault him is that the headgear is a bit cheap and not very comfortable. And "battery check function" is actually not a…

One of the BEST purchases I've ever made, PERIOD

If you are an amateur welder then this item is a godsend. I think the more experienced folks can take it apart for this and that, but I've gone from a 2x3 inch auto-dimming window to this one - and with the extra displays, the size and the way it works, I've got it I've never had a good helmet before. I even weld better because the sensors darken the helmet at all welding angles. My old helmet blinded me half the time when the gun blocked the sensor, but I still saw the arc. I could see what…

I see! Its worth it. Good welding helmet.

I took a welding course and had a cheap HF helmet. I did not see anything. Also, an old helmet kinda blinded me with an arc and I also couldn't see the background or what I was welding. I bought this helmet after research. I am happy. My welds are twice as good now and I've finally had the breakthrough of being able to see what I'm doing. Now I can successfully apply a good bead and weld much better. I've been welding with a 9 shade helmet for a couple of hours tonight and could see the…

I make it easier on myself when I can

I'm taking a welding class. One of the requirements was to bring a "hood" for use during training. There are ten students in the class, each with their own helmet. Some of the helmets are in the $200 price range. Of course they're painted and gloss enamelled, but they do the same thing as the helmet I bought for 25% of their price. In fact, in many cases my helmet is lighter than more expensive ones. When the helmet is removed and the welding started, all the beautiful patterns on more…

Less weight than heavy helmets but works well enough.

I'm a keen observer, but also a novice welder. So I'm not an expert. I started learning to weld at the school store about eight weeks ago and played an hour or two a few times a week, mostly with a welding machine. I've been using this helmet for about four weeks. Any comparisons I make are to old-school gear, ie, solid-tint Jackson helmets. While I certainly don't need or deserve a fancy auto-dimming helmet, my exercise (game) consists of scraps I collect, some of which are old snow chains…
