I see! Its worth it. Good welding helmet.

I did a welding course and had a cheap HF helmet. I did not see anything. Also, an old helmet kinda blinded me with an arc and I also couldn't see the background or what I was welding. I bought this helmet after research. I am happy. My welds are twice as good now and I've finally had the breakthrough of being able to see what I'm doing. Now I can successfully apply a good bead and weld much better. I've been welding with a 9 shade helmet for a couple of hours tonight and could see the material

I make things easier when I can

I take welding classes. One of the requirements was to bring a "hood" for use during training. There are ten students in the class, each with their own helmet. Some of the helmets are in the $200 price range. Of course they're painted and gloss enamelled, but they do the same thing as the helmet I bought for 25% of their price. In fact, in many cases my helmet is lighter than more expensive ones. When the helmet is removed and the welding started, all the beautiful patterns on more expensive…

Less weight than heavy helmets but works well enough.

I'm a keen observer, but also a novice welder. So I'm not an expert. I started learning to weld at the school store about eight weeks ago and played an hour or two a few times a week, mostly with a welding machine. I've been using this helmet for about four weeks. Any comparisons I make are to old-school gear, ie, solid-tint Jackson helmets. While I certainly don't need or deserve a fancy auto-dimming helmet, my exercise (game) consists of scraps I collect, some of which are old snow chains…
