Bought with other parts

Looks like the humidifier but I haven't had to use it yet. I had problems, so because of the low price I ordered it too, but I didn't have to use it.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Dull packaging

Good filter, works well

Works well, they are very expensive but judging by the design they probably work better and only need changing once a year. Make sure you place it correctly at the top and bottom of the "slide" and once you line it up it should slide in fairly easily.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Reliability

Perfect for the Aprilaire 550 humidifier.

The old vent was using so many gallons of water it was costing me $50-60 more a month for water. Very easy to swap out and fits perfectly. Notice in the picture how much bigger the hole is in the middle of the old hole. In the new hole is almost invisible.

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Almost OK

This product is perfect for Aprilaire 550

Arrived in perfect condition but did not come with instructions for replacement. This item goes in the water pipe at the end of the solenoid, but if you haven't done it before you may not be aware as it is not visible. Even if you've done it before, you might forget like me, as it only changes every four or five years. Not a big deal since it's so easy to search and see online. Make sure you change it regularly as it will really increase your water intake!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • High price

Good reason to buy - parts and accessories

The original had a larger hole than this one. When I replaced the valve, I decided to replace it on a whim as well. This one has a smaller hole and I think it fits my oven better. The old one would fog up the windows on very cold days and the humidistat is useless. It seemed to turn on or off without noticing the humidity (I've since replaced it). But the humidity lever is ideal without fogging up windows and also uses less water. I highly recommend this item.

Pros
  • Nice thing
Cons
  • Some little things

fits perfectly. I didn't know it was necessary.

A few years ago my solenoid valve failed so I removed the core and used a needle valve to control the flow. Had no idea what I was doing but it worked with frequent checks. Solenoid valve and needle valve replaced this year. I thought it was all over, but the humidistat didn't apply voltage to the solenoid valve. After reading all the comments on the solenoid valve and hygrostat I was able to fix the humidifier with a new hygrostat and of course the missing yellow hole. Get a good education…

Test Results in Humidifier Parts and Accessories

Replace the red hole (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002UR6MOY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) with this one like it is a smaller hole. Flow into and out of the humidifier was measured at each orifice and the results are as follows: Note: Each test was run for approximately a week and may have varied water temperatures and pressures. Note 2: Each individual number was the average of 3 tests. Test 1:834 mL/min no hole 358 mL/min inlet red hole hot water 300 mL/min outlet red hole

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
