It's too early to tell how well it works but so far it's working fine. I squeezed out one of my old filter sponges when I put it in to start the bacterial colony, so for now all my tests are coming back with water intact!

Arrived in perfect condition! Great filter for beneficial bacteria. The sponge is in excellent condition and the carrier is already in! Great bonus! Big difference in filtering. Anyone who has an aquarium needs something like this. You won't know how you ever managed without it!

This filter seems like a good idea, but unfortunately when it works in my BioCube it sounds like an endless pot of coffee and the churning of the media sounds like a faint crackling sound. Maybe in a deeper tank or a noisy fish room this isn't a problem?

Easy to set up. He does his job well. It took a few days for all of the media to really move inside, but after it started building up some good bacteria inside, things started to bubble. Use in an axolotl aquarium with a sponge filter. It really seems to be doing its job and also oxygenates the water.

Great offer for a guesthouse with bacteria! Make sure you understand this is not a polishing filter for your water. If you've done a little research on keeping fish, it's for beneficial bacteria growth/property placement lol. It has the largest surface area to retain beneficial bacteria; It features a pre-filter sponge that can be easily removed for cleaning. Does a great job considering it's just a medium filled tube and a tiny filter about 1/2 inch thick. I used it as a kind of pre-filter for my aquaponic tank because my water parameters were terrible and the tank just wasn't working and reducing nitrite. After putting them in about 2 weeks later the water wasn't that green anymore, the water parameters were perfect, the good bacteria went to town because of nitrite/ammonia and all the fish survived.
