Not exactly a sponge filter, this item is made as cheaply as possible. However, it is a worthy alternative to mini canisters, which can be customized with spacers and granular media. It was packaged well and all the media pictured on it were included in the main body of the filter. An air pump is not included, so you will need to purchase one separately here as well.
