It took a bit of fiddling to get the adapter to fit properly on the chip, but then everything went smoothly. I was able to program a new key into my BMW for a fraction of what the dealer would charge. Add to that the satisfaction of accomplishing something yourself and you have a real winner.

I bought this key programmer because I was only given 1 key when I bought my BMW. After watching a video on YouTube, I was able to successfully install the software, pull out the control box and 3-button code. This process isn't for everyone, but it's not complicated and will save you hundreds of dollars over going to a dealer or key store. 2004 Mini Cooper key programmed successfully. There is a serious problem with the connector that connects to the chip on the Mini's immobilizer board. It had NO pin 1 label. Not easy to identify. I have been working with PCBs/ICs for over 30 years. It was uncomfortable. You don't want to mess up the program that resides on that chip. I only got it to work by reluctantly trying all 4 positions and holding the adapter firmly to the chip.

Whether it's a good device I can't say, it was the first AK90 device I bought and the CD is missing the data rectangle from the cheap CD that was thrown in a bag along with other components. A return/replacement was initiated and Aramox (supplier) did nothing. Revain customer service supported this and issued a refund. Second AK90 purchased from another Revain approved supplier and this disc (same style I might add) had the same issue; foggy scratched disc with missing data circles.

Haven't used the product yet. The supplied CD is faulty (cloudy and strange problem when the film peels off). I contacted the seller but he did not reply. I guess I'll have to find my own software and guide. I will give the seller one star for three reasons.1. Because I still don't know if the programming tool works or not2. The CD that came with the tool is unreadable. I tested the CD-R on several systems (two MacOS, three PCs). The lack of control software renders the AK90+ unusable. I imagine it would have made a good paperweight, but perseverance paid off in the end. I am rating this product two stars because it was far from "plug and play". I bought a used Mini with only one key and a dead remote. I bought this block to duplicate a key. I spent a total of $40 on this unit, another $30 to replace keys and remotes, and $60 to make two new keys. Still cheaper than the $200 my dealer asked for a key and now I have two!
