Since my hands were a bit weak (from too much knitting I think!) I thought when I opened the box and saw that I could never use them, they looked like only I could handle them myself. But they are really very easy to use, both in resizing the stamp and in compressing it. I now enjoy using them with my Thor's Hammer (2lb brass hammers).

Looked at several different models and brands. I chose this one based on reviews, product description and price. Very happy with my choice. Penetrates the sheet metal of the air conditioning system like warm oil. Punches a very clean hole. Re: Ease of use: you need to disassemble the tool a bit to replace the dies, not that big of a deal but more than a step. The device is very heavy and well made. qualitative.

I bought this tool to repair/replace part of the aluminum above ground pool wall. I had to drill 25 1/4" holes in a straight line for 48" in both ends of two 4 x 10' 16 gauge aluminum sheets to replace the blasted pool wall. This tool made it possible to accurately punch holes without "wandering" and burrs like a drill. Worked fast on the 100th hole and just as good as the 1st hole!

I bought this tool to punch holes in some of my promotional work. In my last project I was working on putting a label on a 12 inch vinyl record. There was no hole in the sticker I was trying to stick. After looking for tools I found the ARES 10005 in 9/32" so I could get what I needed for the labels (A and B side) and it worked great. The tool is very easy to use and can be used for many purposes.

There are no instructions for installing components for the punch, so you'll have to be fairly intuitive to figure it out. However, this is a minor issue. The main problem is that the tool comes in an inferior case. There are plastic hinges on the body, which in my experience wear out quite quickly, especially with frequent use of the tool. When I received my punch I was excited because I was hoping it would take some of my massive email projects to the next level. My only issue was the included instructions that came with the case. They didn't really understand how to attach the stamp without struggling with it and dropping the stamp into the hole. When I ordered this manual metal punch, I didn't have high expectations. But this thing is SUPER! I was amazed at how easy it was to punch 5/32" diameter holes in CRS 18 ga sheet metal. One of the most time saving tools I have ever had. I needed a way to solder punch holes in thin strips of zinc for modern battery designs. The spot welding didn't work because the straps are thicker than usual. And the soldering needs to be hot and fast, through holes allow for that. I used to try drilling strips in an array. I use this to punch a hole in the center of metal bottle caps. The hats fit well. It's taking me longer than I thought to deal with more caps at once. I could use a more expensive tool that doesn't require me to hold a punch, but for crafting it's out of my budget! (I need about 150 bottle caps for the snakes I make.)
