ARKON 25mm to 17mm Ball Adapter - Black - SP25MM17 Review

Arkon Garmin Nuvi Ball Mount may not be compatible with your model. I have a Nuvi 2797LM and it took a bit of grinding to get the cap to fit. Watch a video about my work.

The 17mm ball end is too small to hold a small Garmin NUVI GPS Navigator securely, the device needs to snap onto the ball and have enough friction to hold the GPS in place to keep. Due to the poor manufacturing tolerance of the ball tip, the GPS device wobbles with every bump and every curve. Definitely wasted money.

Just a piece of plastic and no rubber coating on the ball which is what I expected for the price. The description on the website was useless so I took a chance. I had to add a rubber o-ring to the bushing to keep it from slipping. Nothing fancy, but the job is done. Generally quite sufficient.

Item was as described and delivered on time. However, please note that like me you will want to use this adapter to pair your existing Ram mount with your Garmin GPS. with ball head mount make sure your gps rig is not too heavy overall. Otherwise, it twists and turns under its own weight. The 17mm bullet had to be 17.2 or 17.4mm to be tighter.

I have a phone mount with RAM but I couldn't find a MagSafe charger that fits the 1 inch bullet. All of the MagSafe car chargers, including the air vent attachment, were available at a reasonable price. Of course, I was wrong in assuming that all balls are the same. YOU ARE NOT. Most cheaper vented car chargers have 0.5" ball adapters that the doctor ordered, perfect for the original 1" ball clamp RAM installation. Much luck. do not mix up the ball sizes!

I bought this to mount an Anker cordless phone stand on a Ram mount and to my surprise it sticks better than the Anker ball mount. I do a lot of off-road driving and whenever I hit a dip or rough surface that makes my truck vibrate, the factory anchor mount just flexes under gravity. Used for TOMTOM 620 to mount on RAM bracket. This ball worked fine but in order to snap it into the TOMTOM 620 I had to sand the end of the small ball and then put some dish soap on it to snap it into the TOMTOM mount but it worked and worked great. I'm not sure if it's designed for TOMTOM mount as I think it's more suitable for Garmin. It's good quality and does a good job.

My old attachment ball broke off. It was a different model and I'm not sure who made it. It took me a while to find this replacement. This dual ball is actually better than my old mount which had to be mounted on a mounting plate so I could use it with the Ram Mount extension. I don't know if my old one broke due to mechanical shock or because it was exposed to so much sunlight that the plastic weakened with age. My old one was a few years old.
