High quality, lots of options and great value for money

I installed this cartridge in my Dual 1219 to replace my old cartridge which was an old Shure Realistic cartridge pickup was. It was a big improvement! Installation was very easy. When I immediately played a recording from this cassette, the overall sound was much more punchy with much better bass and treble. This cartridge also handled surface noise much better than my previous cartridge. I also love the options this line offers that allow you to upgrade your pen without having to replace theโ€ฆ

No difference in sound quality

To be honest, the components I have are 45 years old, although the receiver, player and speakers still work well. I replaced my old cart/stylus because I no longer thought I was getting the level of playback I used to have. I had high hopes for a much better sound after installing the AT, but actually I didn't notice any changes. It's entirely possible that I'm just not taking advantage of AT's offering due to another, as yet undiagnosed, issue somewhere in the audio chain. However, based onโ€ฆ

Audio-Technica is up to something.

Audio Technica is doing something with this cartridge. I've used others like the AT-95e and AT-120 but this one definitely outweighs its weight. Initially, the high frequencies seem exaggerated, but after a few hours of running everything calms down. This car is very well controlled and I no longer have the internal groove distortion problems that I had in the past. Another thing I like about this cart is that it's not too tall, which makes it easier to work with older turntables withoutโ€ฆ

I am very impressed with this needle/cartridge combo!

I've used a variety of styluses over the years including Shure models, Audio Technica (we're going back), Ortofon, etc. The old school Shure M44-7 was my favorite because of tone, clarity and intensity. As you probably know, this option is not considered. As a solution, I chose Ortofon Red. Great pen. Very accurate, excellent tracking, looks amazing but almost too good to be true. I found it could compete with a CD and sounded almost like a CD. At least on my system. There's nothing wrong. This

Great sound, but there were some difficulties. . .

I bought a cartridge to replace my Ortofon 2M Red that came with my Project Debut turntable. The Orthophone sounded good but I wanted something richer but in the same price range. Looking around, I read reviews of the Audio-Technica AT-VM95EN. It sounded attractive, so I went for it. The only problem I had was that the cartridge is very light. I called the factory about the problem and they suggested putting weight on the arm. I found a very small puck and weighed it on the scale and it addedโ€ฆ

  • New competition has arrived

Not terrible, but not great either.

This AT cartridge is not a bad cartridge but it doesn't compare to the Nagaoka MP-110 which I also just bought and compared to using identical sleeves MP -110 VTF at 1.8g and Audio Technica at 2.0g, both within recommended ranges. BTW, the downforce range for the AT is perhaps the tightest I've seen - 1.8-2.2g. As in the case of the Nagaoka cartridge, this AT cartridge is also clearly intended for larger tonearms. Do not attempt to mount this cartridge in a light cartridge fired weapon. Youโ€ฆ

Excellent tracking and sound. Love the low profile design

This cartridge and stylus is the best in its class. I hesitated to buy Ortofon Blue because of the overpriced despite its popularity. Specification for specification, this item is comparable to Ortofon Blue (Naked Elliptical/Moving Magnet). This includes a DOUBLE moving magnet! The smaller compact size is also what drew me to this phone, not the Ortofon. Output volume has been significantly improved over previous Audio Technica series cartridges.
