🔧 BBK 1603 Underdrive Pulley Kit for GM Truck - 3 Piece CNC Machined Aluminum, Suitable for 4.3/5.0/5.7L Engines Review

I got this pulley kit for my 1990 Chevy 350. The kit worked great and I got more horses as a result. Just keep in mind that since you're using smaller pulleys, you'll need a smaller belt.

Works great, looks great. A new belt is required. Adjusted to 92 Chev Full Size 5.7 in about 10 minutes. Charging and AC drops at idle, but that wasn't a problem as I didn't experience long waits in traffic.

All well done and I'm a firm believer in underdrive pulleys. There is definitely an issue with the alternator pulley as I also had to use a factory pulley due to charging issues. Obviously someone made a mistake in the design as this is a recurring issue related to loading issues. I bought pulleys of the same make and type for another car and haven't had this problem, but then again who blames me for what I say. But for the price you think they will fix the bug.

The outer edge of the crank pulley was notched resulting in a slight deviation from the belt track. I asked for a replacement (never done here) and got it quickly thanks to Revane for that. The pulleys are very good, but I was a bit disappointed with the performance gain. I'm sure it's mostly because I've already removed the 6.5lb clutch fan and installed FF Dynamics electric fans (wow!). Also, I'm a bit concerned that the alternator pulley is thicker so the nut can't be screwed all the way in.

This kit was installed without the alternator pulley and with the Continental multi-ribbed belt. Noticed better throttle response and smoother highway driving. I can't speak too well about gas mileage because I always "enjoy" said throttle response, but it didn't work despite driving more aggressively, so theoretically it's actually improved. I first fitted the much larger alternator that came with the kit and didn't notice any voltage change. The voltage stayed at 14.3v. I tried the factory pulley and only got 12.2, so I had to unplug the battery after starting to even get the correct reading. My biggest complaint was that the water pump pulley is identical in size to the factory 98 c1500 4.3L pulley and does not line up with the water pump center hole.
