Yay Computer Components

I recently upgraded my old computer and wanted to set up KVM for both of my machines. I got it after a bad experience with Trendnet's 2-port KVM - it was completely dead. Not even one of the indicators lit up. Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised that this indicator works well. The hotkey instructions provided aren't very good, but after some experimentation I found that if you press the scroll lock until you hear a beep, you have to simultaneously press the scroll lock + up or down arrow toโ€ฆ

Very easy to use on computer components

Bought this KVM switch to connect a new Dell I bought for my mom. She had an old system with WinMe and didn't want to change it so she could connect both systems and get used to the new OS in time. We connected a monitor and keyboard to share between both systems. (I think they also shared a mouse.) It connected without any problems, although I have to agree with the reviewer who commented on cables connecting a mouse on all four sides. In this case, it takes up more space than it should. I have noticed that the problem notes in the reviews below may not match your experience. Even non-professional writers may not try all available options for their solution and expect that in case of a Linux to Windows switch everything should work automatically. This cannot be the case and not at the switch (or not just at the KVM switch). One of the attractions of this model is that (considering the price) you can replace the cables with better ones. For example, use high-quality videoโ€ฆ

Two computers on one monitor - switch

After reading the reviews, it turned out that the product was exactly as advertised. The direction was clear. Since the hardware on both computers is for PS2, I had to buy a $10 PS2 to USB converter at my local computer store. The converter allows me to take a computer that doesn't have ports for a PS2 mouse or keyboard and plug it into a single USB port. Using KMV Switch worked great. I installed the hardware. Then I started each computer and allowed each to become fully functional beforeโ€ฆ

Exactly what I needed and it works!

If the faint beeping you hear when switching between your computers is the biggest complaint you have about this device, then look for something to complain about. Before that I tried a small IOGear MiniView with 2 ports of a KVM unit. I couldn't find anywhere on the box what OS it would work with, so I had to take it home. Apparently the IOGear either choked on Windows 95, which I use on one of my computers, or choked on the optical mouse (I use a PS/2 adapter with it). Somehow it didn't work.

  • Great product

Customer service sucks

You never know if this switch would have worked. It turned light blue while waiting for the third call back from support. minutes" since he couldn't answer questions about the switches. The second call happened the same thing. .I don't blame them. Belkin outsourcing. I've been loyal to Belkin and trusted their products. Switches. It doesn't work if you don't connect all mouse, keyboard and monitor functions. and the mouse and keyboard connectors are male headers. My mouse and keyboard areโ€ฆ
