Ride slightly different

While I'm happy with the performance of these shocks on my f350, it's hard to say how much they've actually improved. The ride is slightly better when towing a truck, it seems to recover quicker when going over bumps.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Frequency

Not suitable for 2005 F-350 Superduty!

Not satisfied. The stud bolt required for mounting on the steering lever is not included? What waste! Then I went to the NAPA dealership and stopped what was probably Monroe to get my truck on the road Monday morning. Product description needs improvement.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Minor problems

Great shock absorbers for Ford F250

I've clocked about 70,000 miles in my F250 Diesel 4x4 with 2016 FX4 Short Bed. The shocks are springy and unresponsive, especially when towing our 6,000-pound, 31-foot camper. Changed front and back after reading reviews. It's not the difference between day and night. That's a subtle difference. It seems that with fewer roles, the truck simply behaves more responsibly. It also stops without the front end falling off and the back end not bouncing. Excellent shock absorbers and towing perfect!

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Secret

Original Equipment shocks have a second bottom nut that prevents the damper shaft from rotating when the top mounting nut is loosened or tightened. Bilstein shocks do not have a second nut and the damper stem rotates when attempting to tighten the upper bracket locknut, making tightening impossible. I had to return the shock absorbers and buy another brand. Also, the installation instructions from Bilstein are the worst I've ever seen.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Some Complications

The shock absorbers work and ride much better, but installation is tedious

The shock absorbers work and ride much better, but installation is cumbersome. They do not compress and are difficult to compress by hand. For the 2012 F250, I bolted on the bottom of the shock, then took the racquet strap and hooked it to the top ring of the bolt. Pound it in until it nears the hole, then untie the band and tilt it into the hole. That's exactly what I did. It took forever on the first page to try to pull it back, then ripped out the tape and put it on after 5 minutes. Good…

Pros
  • Solid surface
Cons
  • Operating speed

Oh yeah it's much better now, why jump when you haven't either?

These shock absorbers make a world of difference to the handling and ride of a 2015 4WD F250. This keeps the suspension working and not the whole car just shaking up and down over small bumps and potholes in the road. The tires stay in contact with the road, the suspension moves, you and the seat stay still, what a concept! OEM shocks don't move even after compression, too bad. You will need an 18mm wrench or socket for the lower shock mount bolts and a 21mm open ended socket, a box or socket…

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
