2001 Toyota Tacoma - Shocks, Struts & Suspension

Even a mechanic in the shade can install it. The hardest part was removing the old shock absorbers, which were rusted and falling apart. The sheathing is plastic and will hopefully last longer in snow and salt.

Pros
  • Package Dimensions: 7.62L x 67.31H x 7.62W (cm)
Cons
  • Some Cons

This was a left rear shock absorber for a 2000 Toyota Tacoma in partnership with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DRYNU1M for the right side. Installation was easy, each took about 5-10 minutes. They feel a lot heavier than the stock shocks they replaced, but the ride quality is very decent.

Pros
  • Country of origin: China
Cons
  • The cable is shorter than others

No longer assembled in the USA

These Bilstein shocks are now assembled in Mexico instead of the USA as shown in the Revain product photos. The attached photo shows the left and right shock absorbers with part numbers and "Assembled in Mexico" on the tags. The only reason I was willing to pay more for the Bilstein brand was that they were made in the USA. Since they are now made in Mexico I returned them and bought KYB shocks instead. At least KYBs are still made in Japan and cost $100 less than Bilsteins.

Pros
  • Trim Type: Vehicle Specific
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something
