Description of ๐Ÿ”ง Bilstein B8 5100 Steering Damper for Enhanced Stability and Control

Bilstein. 33-170862. The 5100 Series (Ride Height Adjustable) shocks feature multiple snap-ring grooves on the body of the shock to accommodate different spring seat positions, allowing height adjustments from 0-3in (depending on application) By raising the spring seat position, the factory rake can be altered to achieve a level front to rear ride height.

Noticeable improvement

I noticed my steering wheel twitched a bit when I hit small potholes and bumps in the road, so I thought the steering damper might be defective. I bought a Bilstein stabilizer bar based on good reviews and a great price. It took 15 minutes. Change clothes. It was an improvement I noticed right away after getting out of town for a 600-mile ride. I am very happy with the results. Thanks very much! 2007 F250 King Ranch 114,000 miles

Much more shock. Much softer.

2007 F250. First I received a box with a shock absorber sticking out of the packaging. Looks like they stuffed the box with too much shock for that. I called the distributor. The shock absorber must be transported compressed with a plastic strap. Mine was fully stretched out and sticking out of the package. If it had come fully extended you would have thought it was the wrong part. It definitely helped with tracking on rough ground. Easy installation apart from removing the old one.

  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not the best

Bilstein Perfection as usual

I fitted my 2005 Superduty with Bilstein shocks last year. I decided to check my factory steering stabilizer and in fact it was completely worn out. I did some digging to find exactly what would fit my truck and it fit absolutely perfectly. I noticed an instant steering response. Things feel a lot better and tighter. I also use another brand of twin anti-roll bar kit and I know those shocks are probably worn out too, but tomorrow I'll be adding Bilstein to this setup. I'm a lifelong Bilsteinโ€ฆ

Great products but it didn't improve my problem.

After reading the reviews I decided to see if it would reduce the bumps on my 2006 f350 drw cc 4x4s steering wheel when hitting bumps at high speed. The 5100 shocks I just put on the truck absolutely live up to their hype and my partner claims they're no longer whiplash from a shotgun. Unfortunately, the Bilstein steering stabilizer (aka damper) didn't improve ride comfort or reduce excessive steering wheel feedback. The stock steering stabilizer only had 50,000 miles on it and may still haveโ€ฆ

Cons
  • Boring packaging

Incorrect answer to the question of whether this sway bar fits in the standard 2005 F350 4x4 suspension. NOT SUITABLE! The "SELLER" replied in August 2018, yes, but that's a lie! The passenger side should have an o-ring to hold the bolt, not the threaded end of the shaft. The seller promised a few days ago to help resolve this confusion but is not responding now. Unfortunately I couldn't work on the truck over the winter until it was warmed up and now I've exceeded the AtoZ warranty. I justโ€ฆ

The easiest part to replace is on the front and that makes a big difference.

I bought a 2006 F-350 4X4 with 232,000 miles and I think it was the stock steering damper. This truck has a lot of wobble and I know I have a lot of front end work to do, but installing this damper made the truck a lot more fun to drive. The steering wheel used to wobble back and forth during a hard stop, now that's completely eliminated. I think the truck will be a lot better after replacing all the wearing parts up front, but I was really impressed with the difference this small, easy toโ€ฆ

OMG, AMAZING - ORDER NOW!

Truck from MY '06 has 54,000 miles and I didn't want to mess with it because of the low mileage. After installing all 4 Bilstein shock absorbers I was so pleased that I thought it couldn't hurt. The difference is amazing! First the factory block exploded when I pushed it, but with my hand after removing it. I'm not sure if that's bad, but it can't be good. The new block made the truck feel completely different. With so few kilometers I found that normal and already felt like a new car. Am Iโ€ฆ
