It just works! best in my review

There is truth to the statement "you get what you pay for". This is my 3rd dash cam and it is the most simple and user friendly dash camera I've ever used, so far. What's even better is the fact that it works every single time I drive. I also love the fact that the camera connects to the Cloud when I drive via my phone's hotspot and then when I get home it automatically connects to my home's wifi instead. My previous 2 dashcams couldn't do that! The camera is pricey, but it's worth it, 100%!

Pros
  • On-Dash Cameras
Cons
  • Requires additional purchase of LTE module for full features

Decent camera, but beware of overheating

I bought this in April of this year. I watched some YouTube videos about this camera. The only problem I ha e with this camera is overheating issues. When the BlackVue gets hot, it shuts off then turns back on. The LED lights sometime come on and off when they want . I cool the dashcam with the Air conditioner from the car. For the amount of money I spent I would expect better stability.

Pros
  • In the event of an accident, the dashcam's footage can serve as valuable evidence when dealing with insurance companies or law enforcement.
Cons
  • No guarantee for long-lasting battery life

It's purpose for me right now is just to serve as a bluff

I got this cam last year in June. Apparently this was right around the time a lot of reviews were coming out about the firmware messing their cams up, so I never updated it. It worked for a while up until I lost two car batteries over it. That's mostly my fault for assuming turning parking mode off would mean it wouldn't draw power, but it did. I wasn't a fan of process of getting footage from the camera to the phone. It felt really laggy and was kind of annoying to scroll through many 1 minute

Pros
  • The dashcam can automatically upload and backup your footage to the cloud for added peace of mind.
Cons
  • The GPS location may not be accurate in certain areas

New Power Cable? for my opinion

I bought the 900s version and installed 2 of them in my car and year or two back. One has failed, probably heat. It took me days and i had to pull apart all the paneling to run all the lines for the car. I got it done but it was a bunch of work. BlackVue suggests we hardwire it and i did. Now they created a newer version that handles heat better but changed the power cables. WTF, I really don't look forward to tearing through my car again to install this. I bought it so i'll do it, but if you…

Pros
  • Built-in Wi-Fi allows you to view your recorded footage and adjust settings directly from your smartphone.
Cons
  • The footage resolution might not match with some TV models

Parking Mode does not work if car battery voltage below 11.8v

Even if you hardwire the unit, its Parking Mode does not work if your car battery's voltage is/goes down below 11.8v because the unit's built-in power cut-off f

Pros
  • Great camera, took a while to get the cloud to work. Once connected very easy to monitor.
Cons
  • Unintuitive software. No better than $20 dash cams I’ve owned. Not impressed.

Difficult to retrieve videos

This camera is top quality. It should be because it costs top money. What's not top quality is how the app handles videos. You can't retrieve videos through the app. They really want you to buy the extra gear and get a wireless account to retrieve your pictures through the cloud. You can save files to your phone but they go into internal storage with no way to move them into your accessible file system. Also, the whole camera comes wrapped in plastic except for the lens for some reason Mine came

Pros
  • DR900X Series can be hardwired to your vehicle’s fuse panel for Parking Mode, without requiring optional accessories. The dashcam will switch to Parking Mode automatically when vehicle ignition is turned off. Voltage cutoff and timer can be set in the BlackVue App.
Cons
  • Needs a hardwiring kit for parking mode

Great camera - has pros and cons; read my review.

Pros;-Quality is excellent and I love the fact that it just starts recording automatically a few seconds after starting the car.-Also love having the front and rear caneras. I’ve already recorded and reported to the police an aggressive driver, sending them the video as evidence.Cons;-Expensive, but I think the higher cost is a result of making it better than other dash cams.-Front camera is 4k but the angle is so wide and covers so much area, the final resolution ends up looking more like…

Pros
  • The product is designed to withstand extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
Cons
  • Not waterproof and might malfunction in rainy weather

Video quality issues!

My DR900S gave up after 4 years. Instead spending the $150-200 for repair I decided to get the new 900X-plus. My wife has one in her car and it’s working great. Super clear videos where you can read plates etc without any issues.Install was easy seamless just in 15 seconds. Easily did the firmware upgrade and started checking the specs.I realized that the front camera videos are blurry. You can easily see the pixelation. Cross checked with my wife’s cam videos nothing even close. Wine is like a

Pros
  • The optional CM100LTE connects to your compatible BlackVue X Series dashcam to provide easy 4G LTE connectivity. All you need is a valid Nano SIM card. The CM100LTE connects via the USB port of your dashcam.
Cons
  • Can be distracting to use while driving

Cannot disable auto parking mode switch

I like everything about this camera except the fact I cannot stop it from entering parking mode while it's actually on and not moving. I know some other models probably had the option called "Auto switching to parking mode" to do that, but there is no such option in my camera. An annoying work around is to disable parking mode. However, this results in a reboot. Then before turning the car off, I have to turn parking mode back on, which means another reboot.Maybe I'm just being really picky, but

Pros
  • The dashcam features advanced driver assistance systems that can help you avoid collisions.
Cons
  • Difficult to install yourself without proper knowledge

The camera itself is prefect size to fit behind my rear view mirror out of my line of sight and capture traffic and other things as I drive. The biggest issue I have is that the blackvue app for this product is lacking, it feels sort of slow and clunky @ around a 500$ price point seems like a miss. I will say that the app is convenient for transferring videos directly to your mobile device by connecting to the WiFi created by the camera when it is on.Overall a 3* review because the camera is at

Pros
  • With a 256GB microSD card included, you'll have plenty of space to store all your recordings without having to regularly download and delete files.
Cons
  • Doesn’t have a built-in screen for real-time review of footage

Best Blackvue Camera Yet!

I'm a long time Blackvue customer. Their cameras keep getting better and better. This is best by far! I easily installed it myself and made it so it is powered all the time using the alternate Batt and ACC wiring harness. I love the setting options that are now provided such as battery level checking which will make the unit power off if the battery drops to a certain level. I also like the ability to set whether to overwrite old Event files if the SD card gets full. That is huge! I was always…

Pros
  • High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC/H.265) is the standard in 4K video broadcasting and streaming. With HEVC, you get great-looking 4K videos but same recording time as a regular Full HD dashcam.
Cons
  • Not compatible with some older phone models

The camera is a solid and well built unit in deed. The ease of setting up is straightforward and easy to set up for a first time user as long as the directions are followed. I purchased this unit along with the 4G SIM card transmitter separately to get the most of this system’s ability. Unfortunately the front facing camera’s picture quality was not as described. This unit describes the front facing camera to be of the highest resolution between the two. but that proved to not be the case (in…

Pros
  • GPS tracking means you'll always have a detailed record of your driving routes and locations.
Cons
  • No motion detection feature monitored by a security company

Watch who you buy from. Great camera but sketchy sellers.

I purchased 4 of these cameras and all but one are working. The camera that was purchased from LECTRO (Battery Boy) was DOA so I was able to return immediately through Walmart. The replacement camera LECTRO sent worked for about 3 months before it started powering down and would not stay on. None of the other three cameras are having issues in the vehicle that this camera was installed. I contacted Blackvue and was informed that I had to work with the distributor in order to get a warranty…

Pros
  • With a voltage monitor, you'll be alerted if your car's battery voltage drops too low.
Cons
  • Can drain car battery quickly

Won't Connect To WiFi: Updated

Took this POS to a professional audio/tint place. Tech who installed it has the 700 series model. He advised me that the 128G storage card was missing. He also mentioned that of all of the installs that he as done with BlackVue dashcams, they never arrived in a brown box that was generic. He questioned if this was a refurbished unit. I paid them $125 to install a defective unit that cost over $500. So pissed right now. Thinking about cancelling my Walmart account.that pissed off!Update: Walmart

Pros
  • The DR900X-2CH offers a wide-angle lens that captures a larger area of the road, increasing your visibility while driving.
Cons
  • Limited customer support for troubleshooting

I bought the memory card with the camera back in the days before reading the comments that the maximum memory it can accept is 256 GB. So I thought to give it a shot with the 512 GB that I bought and viola ! it worked and booted.Doing the hard mode and passing the cables from the fuse box to the front camera and passing hiding the rear camera wire ended up being a very tedious work. But it was worth it as you don't have any wire hanging around. (2 stars lost for that)My major problem is…

Pros
  • With a loop recording feature, you'll never have to worry about running out of storage space.
Cons
  • Might not work properly with some brands and models of car

Video issues. Zero product support from BlackVue.

I bought this dash cam to outfit it in my new car. The front camera is nice, slim, and concealable and the video quality is very good, at least for the front facing camera. The rear facing camera has issues only after 3 months of use and BlackVue’s support is awful. If you want a company that supports their products and backs their products, look elsewhere. In my previous vehicle, I used a basic 1080p Roav dash cam that work fine for all intents and purposes. After two years, the camera crapped…

Pros
  • Car & Vehicle Electronics
Cons
  • Requires monthly subscription for cloud service

love the design: my feedback

I replaced an old dash cam with this one, and I couldn’t be happier. I love the design, and the installation was super simple.

Pros
  • The BlackVue DR900X-2CH is a top-of-the-line dashcam that records footage in stunning 4K UHD resolution.
Cons
  • Might not be legal in some countries

Good quality camera, worth the investment

The camera works well and was easy to install. I actually purchased two of these within 15 days of each other for my two cars, as I wanted to test the first one out before ordering a second one. It’s expensive but worth the investment in my view just given the risk of not having video if something goes wrong. I am glad I have it seeing how people drive in New York. App works well and is intuitive.

Pros
  • The option to add an LTE module means you'll be able to remotely access your dashcam's footage at any time.
Cons
  • Requires regular firmware updates

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Overprice compare to other cameras

It doesn't have manual record button in case you want to record separately in an urgent event . You have to dial into your phone to do so.

Pros
  • The dashcam's parking mode ensures that it's always keeping an eye on your car, even when you're not there.
Cons
  • No audio recording capabilities

Blackvue needs to get their stuff together

I bought this dashcam based on some reviews I saw on youtube. The picture quality is really good. Installation is not bad at all. The app is barely OK but the cloud service is garbage. I may have got caught up in a transition to a major update to the firmware and the cloud, but I think I have spent more time on the phone with support then using the camera. Here are my points I would like to make public:1) The camera runs HOT, to the touch. I went to go try and fix an issue with it connecting to

Pros
  • The dashcam's discreet design won't obstruct your view while driving.
Cons
  • Viewing footage must be done through the app, no desktop option
