Make sure your drill is at the right RPM!

They fade after 5 or 6 cuts on the positive side, they are double-headed, I started using cutting oil and got better results.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons

Not Durable: Welding Equipment and Supplies

Cut 2 spot welds, one on each side of the torch. Both sides slowly clicked and moved with oil. Didn't force it, just pushed and clicked on both spot welds. Not worth the money.

Pros
  • Highly rated by testers for strength and durability
Cons

Don't buy to work on classic cars.

It might work for modern sheet metal, but it broke within seconds when I tried to cut a weld on a 1966 Mustang. I used Tap Magic cutting oil and pre-drilled a pilot hole. Cut it out for about 2 seconds. No marks were left on the metal. See attached picture. I will ask for a full refund as this is a useless vintage cutter.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Damaged

A spot weld cutter made it easy to cut everything.

Spot weld cutter to easily cut all spot welds. Please note that you need to monitor the drill speed and torque of the drill bit. Otherwise the cutter teeth will break. I had to adjust the clutch on my drill press. So if the drill gets stuck in the burr, it will stop turning and break the teeth. I ended up going through 4 cutters before I got the right setting.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Good but not great

I cut out the spot like this for those who have trouble.

For those having trouble, I cut spot welds by centering the weld, drill with a 1/16" drill bit (yes I break a few), this saves the top points from spot welding Milling cutters from rolls I dip the spot weld milling cutter in water soluble cutting oil for each cut to help the bit last longer. Hold the hammer evenly until it stops. Pop up.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Only available in black

need improvement. on spot welder

I was "a little" (no pun intended) on the size of this #13216 mandrel/retractable pilot that accepts or holds adjacent 3/8" dual burners in a blister pack . It is smaller in diameter than a pencil and only about two inches long, like a very small drill. However, I thought it was much larger than it actually was, which is neither here nor there in my opinion. After a few expired bits, I actually found it was very... and I mean very, difficult to get the bits off the threaded shank. Bit with a…

The old one was fantastic the quality of the replacement dropped

The first one I used was fantastic. I've used it for probably 100-150 spot welds and 5 sides of double end cutters. However, I filed the back of the tool so that it had 6 sides instead of 3 so it would fit in a standard 1/4" hex extension for hard-to-reach places (Blair, it should be 6-sided by default). The first tool was bought some time ago. And the center punch eventually broke off inside and fired. I took the center punch, put it back in the tool and continued working (it worked, but it…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Let me clarify as it has taken me a while to get used to this. Yes I broke the first 3 clues I used. BUT it was because I started too slowly. some tips to extend the life of the cutting edges. 1) Surface preparation, sanding or sanding to the highest possible level - this really applies to heavily rusted and pitted parts. 2) Make a good sharp center punch and leave a good spot for the tip of the tool 3) LUB IT! I used coolant and drill wax separately, both worked well and 4) finally lighter. I…

Cuts welds very quickly

It's almost alarming how fast and efficient this thing is. Probably the most efficient drilling/cutting tool I've ever had. Both was. I noticed this. Don't skip it, don't start the drill too fast and keep it straight once you start or the teeth might snap. Stop often and check your progress, this thing cuts fast. It can go through 16 ga panels in seconds. If you're cutting a lot of spot welds, you might benefit from an extra set of blades for this thing. One of the reasons it's so effective at…
