Cable not pictured

Pictured was a cable with metal ends but they sent me a cable with cheap plastic ends that don't stand up to regular use. I ordered this cable because it was the real Blue Ox and I am disappointed with the misleading photos.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Blue elastic sheath becomes brittle and fails

My 3rd blue bull line in 5 years. Didn't swear, held in the door, didn't use it more than 6 times. The blue wire wrapping around the wires just fell apart after a few years. The first one I bought was used - the same thing happened, the second one was new and worn out after 5 years. I hope the 3rd charm.

Pros
  • High score for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Could have opted for a newer model

Supplied with plastic terminals

Illustrations show the metal terminals on a male to male pigtail. My unit arrived with male and female connectors, all plastic. I have not used or required any female fittings. The plastic tubes deform after a few months and don't hold in place well. I don't expect this to last long and buy backups from the best manufacturers.

  • Positive only

  • No

Complete garbage! on towed goods and winches

I got this line on 14.12. Bought it, used it immediately for 9 months and then kept it in my storage compartment until July of this year. To my surprise, the outer blue coating was 80% torn when stretched. He's basically rotted. I'm so tired of buying Chinese crap. So this time I bought a 6 foot trailer shaft and put my ends on it. Stay away from this product.

Pros
  • Permanent test results
Cons
  • Working speed

Hard coating in towed gear and winches

The coating on the cable seems to make it a bit stiff in winter. I'll have to keep an eye on it during the trip to make sure it's still online. Otherwise it seems to be a good product. After reading some other reviews I realized that the problem I was having might not have been the wiring in my RV's plug but the Blue Ox pigtail.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Almost never

Works great in electrical wiring

This is the perfect way to easily hook up a towed vehicle. I use it in a Class A RV towing a Jeep Wrangler. The coiled cord keeps things tidy and the included "sockets" keep the contacts neat and tidy and protect them from the elements. Because the cable has 6 cores, there are extra cores for other purposes, such as B. Brakes on a towed vehicle and anything else you might need. It's better than the tape I used! My wife says the blue coiled cord looks beautiful.

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Faulty

Defective goods are the best wiring

Ours was defective. We did not have tail lights on the towed car and only realized this when we were out on a long drive. We checked the signals and brakes and assumed the taillights were working until we drove at night for the first time. (I know we're stupid!) One of the terminals at the end of the car is missing a wire. We didn't dive in to see if it could be fixed, but we don't need to fix the $66 item. If we can't fix that, we definitely won't be buying this brand again. We rarely travel…

Pros
  • Useful not only for the intended purpose
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Aluminum connectors wear out quickly. Don't buy this.

This cable has aluminum connectors that corrode quickly. Mine started losing connectivity after about 1.5 years of use. The problem has always been the messy end where the cable plugs into the 6 pin connector that comes with the kit. The outlet is a cheap plastic case with aluminum contacts. I replaced the outlet with a metal body model with copper contacts and replaced the cord with a Roadmaster (146-7) Flexo-Coil 7-wire to 6-wire power cord. The Roadmaster cable has copper terminations, so…
