Inaccurate: calorimeter

I wore this on my belt when I went to the gym, I know machines aren't very accurate. I usually use an elliptical and a recumbent. The book that came with it doesn't explain what settings to use with the elliptical, so I tried the settings on the bike first. After about 10 minutes it said I'd burned over 200 calories, so I changed it to the weight setting to see if that was more accurate. Well it wasn't! I then switched to a recumbent and of course used the bike setup. After 2 hours at the gym…

Worth the price

I have found this to be a great tool to help me stick to my diet/exercise program. I think the instant feedback I get helps me stay motivated. It's firmly attached to my belt; I don't forget that he is there. I like the very achievable goal of hitting "net calories" β€” that is, the difference between my calories in and calories out. I don't reinstall it every day. I like to keep a running total for about a week at a time. If I get 3500 net calories, that's a 1# loss. I try to keep this # steady…

Great tool but only one complaint

I've been using Caltrac on and off for years. This is a great tool if you are honest about what you are entering for calories. Since human nature causes us to underestimate the calories in those few small bites or our portion sizes, I've found an effective technique which involves usually putting in more calories than the label says. For example, if the packaging says my organic bean burrito has 300 calories, I'll give it 350. By adding more and more calories, this serves as insurance in case I
