It's not a light, it's a ceramic heater.

This heater is used to heat the aquarium where our two lizards live. It works great, keeps the tank at 90 degrees. The thermometer is also accurate. The digital thermometer that comes with this heater is actually the second one in the tank.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Damaged

Very hot in the terrarium Heat lamps and mats

Bought this for my turtle terrarium. The chick was rescued and temporarily housed there to keep warm. Works great, never gets hot. Hand feeding a chick, burned his hand twice by accidentally touching it. Burned well and set my cock on fire. So works great for heat, but be careful with it!

Pros
  • Lasting test results
Cons

Ideal for reptiles

Just to be clear, the thermometer does not come with the CHE. It is separate but can be lifted to the surface with suction cups and kept nearby. CHE works well for me and I'm finally raising the temperature in my leopard gecko tank. Make sure you buy the right ceiling light for a 100 watt CHE like this!

  • GOLS certified

Bought instead of red infrared lamps

For our chick hatching this time, I bought this instead of the traditional red infrared lamp I've used in the past. This (150w version) works well and provides enough heat for our 8 chick incubator. I like the smaller profile of this lamp and the fact that it doesn't emit any light at all. It pairs perfectly with the light housing ($6.88) purchased at Walmart. The additional temperature gauge/sensor is an added bonus. I am happy with this purchase. At the time of writing, the lamp in our…

Mine just didn't work.

The bulb never warmed up, barely warmed up. After an hour he was cool enough to take it with his bare hands. Tried different outlets, nothing. My lightbulb was the weirdest part because everyone else seems happy with their lightbulb. I tried to make a return today and he refunded my money. I still want to return it to the seller so they can figure out what's wrong. I think this bulb deserves a second chance, but due to the rapid transition to winter I had to get a second heat source that day. I

Happy Rabbit: Reptiles and Amphibians

We live in an old house (over 100 years old) and it can be drafty. My spoiled bunny is in a big pen, but this pen should be in the corner. In the winter we found that he was curled up all the time and we were amazed that it is quite chilly in there due to the fact that he is on 2 walls. So we got the Chicken Coup Heater but the *explaining* switch lit up! If I had gone to bed 5 minutes earlier we could have had a big house fire! After that we started thinking about what to use to keep him warm.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
