Very easy to install. It literally took less than ten minutes. Setup took longer than installation. Use the GM truck factory key. Lock it once and it will be configured with your factory key. No additional keys need to be installed. If your original didn't have a lock, simply unlatch the old latch and insert the new one. I have a gate liner so I needed a Philips head driver. All you need is a 13mm socket and a scratch remover.

Fits 07 1500 Silverado. Needed a new handle mechanism because my old one was rusted and didn't work properly even with lubrication. I decided to upgrade to a lockable handle to protect my tools and other valuables and it was barely more expensive than an OEM replacement without a lock. Everything was well packaged, pre-lubed and the whole installation couldn't be simpler. And the biggest advantage is the possibility to connect it to the ignition key, which was important to me.

I was impressed with this tailgate latch. Matches a perfect and exact replica of OEM GM parts. Took me about 15 minutes total including removing the old tailgate handle and installing the new BOLT latch handle. The details fit like a glove and I really liked being able to use my existing key so I didn't have to have multiple keys. My truck that I mounted this on is a 2009 Chevy Silverado 2500HD/LT double cab 6.5" bed. I am very happy with my purchase and definitely worth the money.

I watched a youtube video on how to install it. But mine wasn't like the others. The third was under the trunk lid. This 3rd screw actually holds the grip cover, it is also held in place by 3 metal tabs (see photo). It took about 30 minutes, I had to remove the 3 trunk panel screws holding it together. Remember that the bottom screw holds the lid. 2. Use a thin grip to take it off. Once you've done that, you'll see that putting the new one back in is easy.
