Simply amazing!: Spade bit

I'm a very die hard handyman with lots of features and I'm always drilling a hole in something, the last project was a 1 inch watering hole through my windowsill, na yeah I got lucky I hit a forged nail about 7 inches. Not knowing what to do I found them at Revain so I ordered them to try it after smoking 2 regular beats and it went with ease! Very happy.

Pros
  • Contour wing design - increases speed with faster chip evacuation
Cons
  • No productivity

The thread tip loses strength when it hits the nail.

They appear to be relatively stronger than standard bladed bits but are still dull, especially after a few nails. They also don't go through the nail, but rather bounce off the nail angrily, requiring a steady hand movement to push the bit through the nail. Don't even try if it's a screw or bolt. It was a waste of money.

Pros
  • Fully Threaded Cone Bit - pulls the bit through wood quickly and effortlessly
Cons
  • Not sure

Save money if you think you'll be drilling with this drill bit nails are driven into wood. Spend a few bucks more and get a drill. Greenlee makes good ones, and some less expensive ones are available in HD. However, it makes good holes in regular wood without nails. Watch YouTube to see that when drilling through wood with nails, these bits are no better than traditional spade bits.

Pros
  • Optimized for wood and some wood species with nails - combines excellent drilling speed with specially designed wear resistance
Cons
  • Easily torn
