A workaholic but not as happy as he used to be

We use this printer for the daily tasks of an office worker. I have been using these machines for many years. The quality of this printer seems to have declined over the years. We need to clean the paper feeders frequently to prevent misfeeds and clean them with corona wire to prevent dots from appearing on printed documents. We replace them when the photoconductor fails because repairing it is more expensive than replacing it. We plan to look at other manufacturers when the next Brother comes…

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • No insurance

WRINKLING PAGES AND POOR DOCUMENT FEED!

We bought this printer to replace a similar Brother 4 in 1 printer that lasted 3 years. Unfortunately, the document feeder on this one is a dog! It tears up some of the documents we upload through it (a HUGE problem since we copy many original legal documents) and refuses to transfer others. Finally, I opened the feeder and found that it only had one small feed roller, while our old model appeared to have three. It also creases some of the printed pages, forcing us to reprint them. Very…

Disappointing. - Office electronics

Unfortunately, about 1 in 10 pages printed has a large crease running the length of the page. Brother will not help solve the problem but will provide general advice such as B. "Make sure the paper is loaded correctly." I've been using Brother printers for years without this problem. Regret lost $500 in the process. Too bad I didn't send it back immediately when I had a problem. She was there from the start. I only needed a printer urgently for the first month and never returned it. I threw…

It leaves marks on the pages and creases the pages as it feeds.

I have an older Brother model and am quite happy with it but this is not. It continues to leave marks on all pages as we type. We thought the rollers were dirty so we cleaned them many times but to no avail. Also, the document feeder sometimes creases or tears pages, which is not normal as I pass original documents through it to make electronic copies. I only use Brother ink cartridges so that's not a problem. We can't figure out what the problem is. I got this for my office and need to replace

Very happy with this printer so far

Very happy with this printer so far. Usually prints very quickly. Some documents with graphics are very slow. Overall a great printer. Easy setup and 4 months with no problems. Never been a Brother fan (old version of CC3 or CC4 control center software). Works but does not scan well. I was able to get my old printer to scan directly into Acrobat. It still doesn't work for me. But I'm sure I'll find a way. At this point I would say the printer scores 7-8 out of 10. Update More than 18 months…

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose

Crumple the pages!

First of all I would like to say that this is my fourth Brother copier that I have bought. Everything else works great and I have no complaints (5 stars). HOWEVER, for some reason the first few pages of a document I print come out STAPLED on the bottom right (right where the signature line would normally be). Sometimes CRINKLE goes halfway down the page. The problem usually goes away as the printer warms up, but after just a few minutes it starts again. SO ANNOYING! I'd love to post pictures…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

Ordered an extra tray for legs and letters. I am printing mixed batches of Legal and Letter documents. When the printer has to collate and select the correct tray, legal-size pages are cut off at the bottom. Sometimes the printer just stops in the middle of a print job and turns off and on again. This always leads to a paper jam. After I clear the paper jam and continue printing, instead of continuing, it jumps back to the first page of the batch I'm printing. FOLLOW-UP: Sent back the first…

Good machine, terrible support

I work in IT and have bought several Brother products for different offices over the years. As a rule, they are quite reliable and inexpensive. As far as MFPs and faxes go, they seem to be more reliable than similarly priced devices from HP, Canon, etc. I had to write this review after my recent experience with Brother support. This device is less than a year old and is used in a business environment. . The automatic document feeder was broken and required a simple piece with a rubber grommet…

2 stars deducted for an unforgivable design flaw and missing attitude

I'm deducting 2 stars for an flaw and missing attitude that I think are unforgivable. Compartment for 520 pages. However, the output tray holds fewer pages - maybe around 300-325 or so. And when the output tray is full, the ENTIRE machine freezes. A piece of paper gets stuck under the toner, 2 or 3 sides are bunched in the back door, and the piece is REALLY bunched near the back and that piece is very difficult to remove. We'll have to keep needle nose pliers close to the device to remove this…
