Honda Vehicle Air Filter Upgrade: FRAM Extra Guard CA8040 Ensures Optimal Performance Review

I just installed these on my 2000 Honda Civic. The fit went without any problems. However, the filter is not what is stated on the website or on the packaging. As shown, there is no mesh backing to support the pleated filter element.

The AMZN website says "This will fit your: 1996 Honda Civic EX 1.6L L4 Gas." But it doesn't fit me with a VTEC D16Y8 engine. The genuine Honda OEM air filter for my car is part number 17220-P2N-A01 and measures 7.9 x 7.5 x 2.1 inches (mostly square) and this filter measures 6.8 x 1.5 x 9 ,1 inch; Rectangle.

Fits very well. There were small defects around my filter. Some spots were noticeably thicker and there is a spot where the rubber mold is thrown onto the filter element. Not much, but very noticeable. It stood out very well, but I find the surround part thicker than my last filter. The air filter box was tightly closed and did not close completely in one place. I see a bright orange color where the box should close and meet. It's okay, there's no air blowing in, so everything should be fine…

Pros: Seems to be able to capture/filter a lot of debris. The air filter material appears to be of high quality material. Cons: The orange foam gasket feels a bit small/thin. This caused the mating surfaces of the top and bottom of the filter housing to be loose compared to my previous clone air filter. This can result in incoming air bypassing the filter itself through the tiny gap between the filter and the air filter housing. No net is included as shown in the picture. Quality control also…
