    Gets hot when idling!

This may cause a fire. When plugged in with no devices connected, it measures 60°C below the surface at an ambient temperature of 20°C. Under load, the temperature rises to 85 degrees and everything slows down. Imagine what happens when the ambient temperature drops to 35-40 °C in summer. I'm pretty sure there is a design or voltage specification issue with this unit. I've never had a USB hub get that hot just when I plugged it in. If they fix this problem I will check out this hub again. I…

Not a bad device, good for hubs

I don't know what happened to my original review but it will be an update. So the machine is fine. My goal was a small tb3 hub for my Alienware with a uhsii SD slot. It took me a while to get tb3 working. There were some issues with smb settings when turning windows features on and off. Those who developed the wd wireless pass have nothing to do with the device. But for some reason it was causing problems with my tb3 port. Now it works with tb3 but only if it is connected to the port before…

    It's fast and stylish

Bought because it has a UHSII slot. I use all slots and SATA3 connection. This mini hub is connected to my Thunderbolt3 expansion card on my Windows 10 computer. It's not a T3 device, but my add-on card does everything a 3.1 Gen2 device would do and then some. I like this device and it's affordable with very good speeds. The only problem is that there is a connector for the SATA connector, but when you connect a SATA device, it cannot be saved together. It's more of a portable device than…

So far, so good! on Networking Products

Initial Review: This hub is pretty standard and does what it's supposed to do. So far the product works great. Haven't tested SD/Micro card reader, USB Type-A and SATA 3 port yet, will update this review once I have one. Out of the box I found the design dated. The SATA 3 port cover is pretty decent but doesn't feel solid. The product is light and looks cheap, but it is made of plastic. As mentioned, most of the ports have not been tested, with the exception of USB-C, which I think works great.

Great functionality for $. A Few Things You Should Know

Works as advertised. There are a couple of minor issues, though: it gets very hot when plugged in, and the SATA port is a bit fiddly to use. I've used it with a 2018 iPad Pro and a 2017 iMac. Both work fine, but as mentioned, the device gets pretty hot once connected to the network, whether you're transferring data or not. Maybe the plastic case only makes things worse.

Great Gadget for Any Photographer/Videographer Tool Bag

Data doesn't exist if it doesn't exist in 3 places! After checking the product description, I was able to copy the data from the UHS-II SD card at high speed and transfer it to my laptop and a connected external (SATA) SSD (new drive) at the same time. From 200 MB/s to 280 MB/s as shown in the screenshots. UHS-II speeds over 200MB/s are achievable (280MB/s, my new MBP 2019). When you use the "Zedge" app on a Mac, it copies to both your Mac HD and an external SSD (connected to this device) at…

Edit #4. A test drive plugged directly into a USB port (as shown below) (as shown below) works fairly well, over 400 MN/sr/W. Connected through this device, the CrystalDisk cannot even communicate. This is on Win 10. Will try again on a Mac MP 4.1/5.1 with Mojave. And Edit 5 will be the final report on this case in a few days. On Windows this seems useless. Currently downgraded to 2 stars. Edit #3. The test drive (an SP 500GB NVMe drive in a Sabrent USB 3.1 Gen 2 enclosure) gets about the same…
