A&E Cage Co. Small Java Wood Multi-Branch Perch - 16 in. x 1.2 in. Review

This is my fourth purchase of these java wood perches and they have all been beautiful. They are very strong, very smooth and look like a work of art to my birds. Our birds are rarely caged, so I put up a perch outside. No regret.

Big disappointment. Not that the photo I understand won't be the same, but. I had 2 "perches" that went straight up making them useless for the bird. Next to one of these is a horizontal perch that can be used but is only 6 inches from the base. All I have is a 6 inch perch and ten inches of useless wood pointing towards the ceiling.

Too bad it's Java wood, it's not at all as described, it's not 1.2 high. They are so small that parrots' paws wrap completely around them, and then some. I bought this for my cockatiels, as you can see it will not work. Not to mention there is a large gap in a perch that would work for parrots but is dangerous to them. It will be returned!

Very disappointed. I ordered a perch with several branches made of java wood. As you can see I have a branch. If I wanted a branch I would go to Walmart and buy it for $5. Aside from not getting what I paid for, the branch I received is faulty. The threads are so badly rusted that I can't even securely attach the branch to the cage. I thought I got a lot but in the end I regret the purchase.

They are pre-drilled for cages. I used two that I ordered for a recycled hanger for my daughters' two parrots. I removed the two protruding studs from the rod branches and swapped them out to fit the pre-drilled holes in the top of the hanger. I gave it to her about a week ago and got positive feedback on how much parrots like it. Another good project from the grandfather of parrots. picture below.

nothing like the picture, it says it's a small size but the branch is busy but a HUGE and THICK piece of wood more made for a large amazon bird, my poor budgies and budgie paws are too small, they immediately slip off, I wish it looked like the picture! I see a lot of happy customers so maybe I got a bad one and I should try to get it back but this perch is too heavy and is facing down and only part of the tree can be used as a perch as you see in the picture. Very disappointing! SECURITY THREAT! I ordered some of these for my green cheeks for her new cage. One of the first ones they sent me had cracks in the base where it connects to the cage which was a safety issue. I ordered a replacement and sent it back thinking it was a simple mistake and maybe they just didn't realize it was an ill fitting perch. Apparently not the case.
