To me, it looked like one of those magic appliances you see on TV shop channels. I hate those and I would never buy them. It took me about three weeks to decide to buy this.I like Romano and Parmesan cheese on vegetables, soups and pasta. I was reserved because I like it finely grated. When I fist started using it I was pressing hard on the plunger causing longer than I wanted pieces coming out. I found that less pressure on the plunger the finer the grated cheese is. It did not move on my granite counters, cleanup was a breeze. Highly recommend. Great value for the price.

Fresh grated cheese is night and day better than store bought pre-shredded, the little extra effort is worth it.It will take longer to setup and clean, it will grate a full 1# block of cheese (using blocks small enough to fit in) in seconds.Cleaning is the not bad if you do it within a few hours of using before cheese hardens.Suction works great but it’s never locked in long, the shredder doesn’t need long to shred.

I will never go back to using a traditional cheese grater! Not only does it work so much faster and easier, my fingers are kept safely away from the blade so no more injuries! Also really impressed with how quick and easy it is to clean using my normal scrub brush.

The grater works as expected on cheese and soft meats. It also shredded carrots very nicely, which was a surprise. It is a bit of a hassle to clean and get all the food bits out, but not enough to complain about. The only real down side is the fact that the darn thing will not stay on the counter. The suction does not work as advertised and you have to re-do it multiple times while you are grating. For this reason, I don't use it as often as I had intended.

For the users that complained about this grater, I am not sure why as this was so easy to use and so easy to clean. I ripped through 3 blocks of cheese in nothing flat. If you spray the inside of the actual grater part, the cheese comes out easier. As for the suction, if your counters are not smooth then you have a pro with any type of suction.
