Great DSLR lens buy

Item was listed as 'acceptable' but I think it was MUCH better than acceptable. I would call it very good. Came very well packaged and my daughter (she is a photographer - this was a gift for her) is very happy with the quality of the photos she gets. Great buy for us.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • Modern

Nice sharp lens! Best in Lenses

This lens is REALLY good, even in use. Minus - noisy autofocus, but you get used to it. The photo of the fly was taken with the lens and a 21mm macro excerpt, but the second photo was only taken directly above the lens. She is EXTREMELY sharp. Sharper than Canon's current 50mm f1.8 lens. He takes great photos. If you can find a used one that doesn't have fungus, buy it!

  • Handsome
Cons
  • Frequency

Perfect! - SLR lenses

I really like this lens. I'm not a professional photographer, but I have an Etsy shop that requires me to take crisp, accurate macro photos, and my kit lens and 50mm/1.8f didn't help. This lens produces very good, sharp and detailed macro shots and compensates for poor lighting conditions. I read an article that recommended it for food photography and thought it was just as good for photographing jewelry. Even hard-to-photograph pearls! This is a really great lens.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities

Favorite Canon lens for the price. Unbeatable VALUE!

Nothing beats the image quality of this vintage lens for the price. Now this is my lens for most situations. I recommend this lens to anyone who shoots with Canon cameras. The only criticism would be the loud autofocus. It is VERY loud and almost unusable for video. For videos, I always switch to 50mm/f1.8 (silent autofocus). Also, consider getting a Canon Life Size Converter for this lens if you're trying to shoot very close up.

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Security

Great lens for the price

Overall it will improve my photography. My main focus is on bridal jewelry and close-ups of a newborn's legs, arms, ears, nose etc. I played around with it after getting it last night and as many have mentioned the autofocus was very noisy and felt clunky. . I switched to manual focus and had better success without being distracted by noisy autofocus. Overall, the lens feels "rougher around the edges" than I'm used to, but I was still able to get some great shots. It will work fine until I can…

Does the job - camera lenses

I have a 100 f2.8 IS macro lens as my main macro lens (it's AMAZING) but it fell off at a wedding and I had to send it in to have it fixed I needed one different macro and FAST. I ordered it to shoot before 100 macro was available and it didn't disappoint. Obviously it doesn't compare to the 100 f2.8 IS in terms of clarity/sharpness, but this thing gets the job done and I think I'll stick with it because it's a very handy backup for the 100. Overall I am definitely satisfied lens, CONSIDERING…

Excellent lens! to Camera & Photo

This is the perfect lens for my needs and requirements. My needs are versatility and great looks. My aspirations are satisfying ride characteristics, obvious structural strength, proven durability, and absolute precision. My optical performance requirements are even higher. Another factor in choosing this lens was its conversion from 50mm macro on a Canon full-frame camera to 80mm macro on a Canon APS camera. The lack of a USM motor is less of a hindrance in my opinion - it clicks and defocuses

Pros
  • Outstanding overall performance
Cons
  • New competition has arrived

Ideal for portraits

I never bought it and was intended for macro photography. I bought it because I have a Canon 50mm 1.4 and while it takes good pictures and has a fast focus, it misses focus far too often for me to be happy. I have a Canon 6D and my photography skills are slightly above average and I know my camera very well. I always focus on the eyes and yes, even with center focus and the Canon 50mm 1.4 sometimes doesn't focus exactly on the aperture and the center is kind of soft with noticeable light…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Upgradeable
