Expensive grip with semi-rigid construction. The handle is made in Taiwan, not Japan. Canon probably wants to save money on manufacturing and increase profits with this popular product. The battery compartment feels very flimsy and is made out of cheap plastic that would likely stick in your hands when working in the field. Let's start with the essentials: Ergonomically this is the BEST grip for all large Canon bodies. Comparing it directly to the 5D3 and 7D2 grips I have, it has a very contoured shape for your hands and feels VERY similar to the built in 1DX2 grip.
